The Swan At Milton

We travelled from Doncaster to visit my brother for New Year's Eve. We were looking for somewhere go for an early evening meal and managed to get a table mid afternoon at this lovely pub. What a find. We all went for the beef roast dinner and from the presentation to the staff serving ourselves was amazing. The meat, yorkshire puddings and roasties were all served on a platter and the array of vegetable selection just kept on coming to the table. It was a pleasure to have proper home cooked food, which is a rarity these days. Unfortunately, we had full bellies and could not manage a sweet, maybe next time we are over. We visited this establishment with high expectations. Whilst the decor was lovely the food and price not so. I ordered a pie and my husband ordered the fish pie. My steak and ale pie was ok but the rest was rather a disappointment. For the cost I’d expect more than just a pie, the smallest scoop of mash ever, and a few hard carrots. Let’s not forget the thimble sized gravy you get. As for my husbands fish pie it had potential but the fish in the middle was stone cold. And to top its off the hidden £7 service charge. Which we didn’t know was optional at the time but they don’t like to advertise that. Small piece of advice remove the service charge and allow people to tip what they feel is the...

This was the first time we had visited as the reviews were so good. It did not disappoint. The Sunday lunch was delicious. The three of us ordered roast beef, which came on a large slate together with roast potatoes and large yorkshire puddings. All the vegetables came in separate dishes. There was more than enough for the three of us but you could order more if you wished. We really enjoyed it, and, unfortunately, we were too full to order a dessert. Maybe next time as we will definitely return. We also found the staff to be extremely friendly and very helpful. Thank you. xx

What a gem of a place this is.Food was incredible served piping hot and lots of accompaniments.I had three courses and I’m struggling to say which I enjoyed the most Cod was brilliantly cooked and flaked away and you have to try their roast potatoes.Service was great and the decor really tasteful.Toilets spotless all adding up to a fantastic experience some of the best food I’ve had in ages !! Fantastic Sunday lunch- beef cooked to perfection, potatoes crispy and Yorkshires a delight. We loved the vegetables and the younger members of the party particularly appreciated a second serving of the beans. There wasn't that much (any? room for puddings but we made a valiant effort, and weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the dining room was a lovely place to sit and enjoy time with friends.

Another superb night out at the Swan Milton. Ambience, service, food and drink all excellent. Steak cooked to perfection. Creamy garlic mushrooms a tasty starter and delicious veggie risotto! Couldn’t resist finishing off with the sticky toffee pudding which did not disappoint. Thanks Olly and team!!

Lovely place, fantastic food and service. We had the steak and ale pie with fresh parsnips, carrots and mashed potato all of which were delicious. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. This was our first visit however we are looking forward to returning again soon.

As always The Swan did not disappoint, fantastic food, great service lovely atmosphere. I had the chicken for main which was extremely tasty my friend the burger which I have also had before. This pub really is the hidden gem of South Derbyshire.

Very nice decor, friendly service and excellent food. The beetroot and goats cheese starter was delicious and the chicken supreme was wonderful. Deserts appear home-made and were super. This place deserves to succeed.
