The Traveller's Friend

Our room rate included breakfast, but on the second morning, there was a power outage, so breakfast wasn't available. While I understand this might not have been the hotel's fault, it was frustrating, especially since the hotel is in a quite isolated area and nothing else was open that Easter morning. We were relieved to find a McDonald's was open, but it was quite a drive to get there. The surrounding area felt very desolate; there were only two cabs available to transport wedding guests, making it difficult for everyone to get around. We had to plan our rides well in advance to ensure we could make it to our destinations. Overall, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

I had Sunday lunch at this restaurant last week, and it was quite busy with other diners as well. The food was decent, typical pub fare, and the beer selection was good too: Adnams Broadside, St Austell Tribute, and Young's Special. You’ll need to drive to get here unless you’re staying at the nearby Travelodge. If you find yourself in Newbury for work, this place is a solid option for parking your Mondeo.

This is a fantastic pub for a relaxed lunch with the kids. While it has a traditional 60s appearance, the food is quite good, the bar offers a nice selection, and the staff is friendly. There's a spacious beer garden featuring some big slides for the children to enjoy. It's a quiet yet very pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

The food here is fantastic, and the prices are excellent. The staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a Sunday roast, this is the place to go—the beef is especially amazing! The only downside is that the restroom facilities are freezing cold, which made changing a baby there quite a challenge. Reserva una mesa ahora

I don't eat out very often, but I have to say, the carvery was incredible! The roast potatoes were perfectly crispy, the Brussels sprouts were delicious, and the apple pie was simply delightful. Thank you!

Definitely worth a visit! We just enjoyed a delightful lunch with plenty of delicious, home-cooked food. I couldn't find anything to criticize about it.
