The Village Inn Pub and Restaurant

My family has been going to The VI for over a dozen years - since relocating to Bowmanville from Vancouver. This is a place that is a solid citizen of its community. Run for several years by former employees of the original owner, the VI is the kind of spot that you are happy to call your "local". Great beer choices - including local craft offerings as well as iconic drafts - and well executed, classic pub fare; though wings are the house specialty, my favourite is their beef dip and my wife says that their fish and chips are the best she has had since leaving the west coast. Local musicians tuck themselves into a corner on weekends. Yes, they have a few screens to watch the game (the owners are serious TFC fans) but it isn't a sports bar with the volume drowning out conversation or classic pub music in the background. What makes this place really work is the staff and the owners. They just take care of you. In the end, what else do you really need or want from a local pub?

Nice atmosphere for a pub but the downstairs is small. We did not go upstairs. Food prices were reasonable and a fairly good selection. Unfortunately my soup was cold upon arrival. The meatloaf I ordered was not the best as far as flavourful. Rather bland.Service was acceptable. Good size portions.

This is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. They have a large selection of draft beer. And always have a few local micro beers on tap. The owners and staff are friendly and serve is always excellent.

Fabulous little pub with a great atmosphere in downtown Bowmanville. Had the Friday Night Special "Fish & Chips" and it was excellent! Plentiful portions and great service.

This is a really nice pub to meet for drinks and food. The dinner we had was really good and great service.
