The Wheel is an excellent setting for a meal. Of course in the winter it is not as beautiful as it would be in the summer with the boats and scenery. The service was ok but on New Year’s Day with a buffet there was little to do except take our drink order and come around from time to time asking how everything was. The presentation of the food was excellent and it tasted great. My main complaint was that the items that usually needed to be eaten warm were ice cold and there was no manner of re-heating. It was a quiet Sunday evening with just one waiter on duty. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow, possibly indicating that the kitchen was not operating at full capacity. The waiter was friendly and appeared to be working hard despite the low number of customers. The food we received was tasty, but it arrived at best lukewarm. There was something just not quite right about the experience.
We love The Wheel. Found it odd that the set special menu online for NYE wasn’t exactly the menu offered on-site but the food was good regardless (no truffle gratin available, cookies, cacio e pepe, etc).
While the venue is lovely and have been there before it was lacking for a NewYear’s Eve party. We expected much more especially for the price.
