This is not our first visit to the White Horse but it will be our last as service is just getting worse and it is dirty. We were a group of 6 adults coming for drinks at around 11 30 on 13/8 just before the lunch rush so you would expect sufficient staff to attend the bar. Bar was not busy and there were plenty of tables available but only one member of staff visible and she served people very slowly and in an unbothered style . We ordered 5 drinks and 1 coffee and 1 tea. We had to wait 40 minutes for the tea and coffee as cups were not available. When the cups came they were dirty with previous customer coffee marks on the cups The milk pot had a funny yellow deposit inside so clearly had not been washed we went back inside to ask for new cups and milk but there was no one to be seen so we eventually had to leave. Really poor service and disgusting see milk pot below great view and location though .... sad experience

The pro’s …. Lovely looking pub, nice interior, brought back happy memories as a kid of dinner there with my family BUT … sadly the food let it down massively. Sunday roast meal: meat was over cooked and fatty, tasted like a cheap meat. The veg potentially previously cooked? Didn’t taste of much. Gravy lacked red wine or meat juices. Good size helping, pretty plates, but tasted a bit school dinners. Def not cooked to order or recently. Potentially all of it reheated. The yorkshires a bit wet. The tables weren’t cleaned when we arrived we cleared it ourself. Could have done with a good anti bac and perhaps table decoration. All in all disappointed and sadly won’t be returning for a meal, perhaps will just stick with drinks in future when passing as still a nice pub internally and externally. Staff were welcoming and accommodating but the food needs some serious looking at.

Server announced that they cannot guarantee allergies. Had a useful Ipad, but does not break ingredients or any sauces etc. They bought the Allergen folder, but this also did not contain all Allergen info. Instead, the server had to make a picture of the labels on their phone for me. I am milk and gluten-free and there were no available options for me for beginners, pages or web. I was offered simple chicken, simple rice and peas, in the end we could add bbq sauce. Jackenkartoffeln have been offered on the website and menu as pages to main dishes, as chips are fried in gluten friyers, but they no longer offer this in the house, mash is prefabricated so they don't have it without butter! Has vegan ice cream offered.

It was a spontaneous decision to eat out. We were hungry and tired. We were greeted by Lou, who looked after us for the rest of the evening. Lou was professional, articulate, amusing and very informative. I chose the mixed grill which was delicious and priced at £19.50 and the steak was cooked to my medium rare request. It was a memorable experience and it ticked all the boxes. Very rarely do we go out and have no gripes about the food or the service. The White Horse is well worth trying.
