Two words: Totally worth it! This place is an unexpectedly fantastic choice for fresh shrimp and local seafood. I've realized that when a restaurant is known for its fried fish or shrimp, you definitely have to order it fried. We arrived around 4:45 PM on a weekday and noticed a few cars already in the parking lot with diners eagerly waiting. By 4:55 PM, a line of about 15-20 people had formed. They opened the doors right at 5 PM and quickly seated us, getting us right into the meal. We spent about 45 minutes there, and by the time we left, the wait was estimated at around 20 minutes, which isn’t much longer than if we had just come right at opening. The place has a lot of history and offers...

Don't judge a book by its cover! I've lived in the area for years but just now tried this place for the first time. The service was incredibly friendly! The seafood at Shem Shack is fantastic, with mostly fried options, but they also offer other cooking methods. The shrimp, sourced from Tarvin, was delicious, and the boat is right outside your window. Almost everything is made in-house. If you're expecting a fancy experience like Ritz, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food is good, and it's right by the creek. They have an outdoor bar area which is perfect for enjoying a drink at sunset. Just a heads up, there might be a wait to get in. We will...
If you are anyway near this place, seek it out. She Crab soup is phenomenal, the triple combo of grilled shrimp and scallops with fried oysters was divine. Our server Anne was a blast, super personable and incredibly inviting, she made the two of us (Midwesterners) feel right at home. The place looks super sketchy but honestly, it?s exactly what I was looking for. Go there, you won?t regret it.
Out of town and found this hidden gem. Saturday evening wait time was reasonable. While your wait they have s outdoor bar with awesome views. Went with the grilled shrimp 8 oz and she crab soup. That 8 oz comes with sides. Definitely didn't go wrong with this meal. Would definitely recommend to find this place and try it out. You have my thumbs up! Reserva una mesa ahora
Our wedding planner recommended The Wreck for our rehearsal brunch and we are so glad she did! Allison was great to work with, very accommodating and provided our northern wedding party with a true low country experience. The low country boil was amazing and the bartender was great too! Everyone complimented how great the place, staff and food was!
My daughter and I made a point to come here since it made an appearance in Outer Banks! We were not disappointed! Anne was so friendly. She was helpful in making our choices from the menu, and even chatted with us about the filming that took place there. The food was awesome, three size choices for most plates is very convenient!
Such a delicious meal. i had the Grilled scallops. the meal comes with a hush puppy, grit cake red beans and rice. they were all so good and the homemade cole slaw too. I was really surprised by the grit cake, delicious! We had key lime pie and banana pudding for dessert. Both so Yummy!
Had a great time here. The clam chowder was excellent, fresh. You get all the boiled peanuts you want, tasted superb. We had the sea food combo plotter, shrimp scallops and flounder was top notch! Will definitely come again. Great local spot! Reserva una mesa ahora
It was ok. Fried fried and fried. So if you like fried it might be great. Good service and nice environment. Parking a bit dicey in a small lot you had to back up to get out of, hoping someone else was not trying to get in when you want out.
It was just average for me. The She-Crab soup was mediocre, the scallops and shrimp were passable, and the Deviled crab was overly bready.
