We were visiting Parksville on Vancouver Island a couple weeks back, and read about this amazing place for tacos that is located along the scenic route along the coast, so decided to give it a try. When you stop by this small, unassuming hut in the middle of seemingly nowhere, you may think that is is just a place to get some cheap and quick food. Wrong on both counts - the tacos sold here are absolutely AMAZING, and the wait for these tasty treats was absolutely LONG (a good 45 minutes on an August weekday afternoon). We have driven past this little unassuming "shack" on the side of the road numerous times and always wondered about the many people standing in the order line. We decided to stop yesterday, based on a recommendation from a "foodie" we met at a Happy Hour Friday event. The shrimp and prawn taco I had was great! Admittedly i haven't had that many fish tacos and the very best I've ever had was prepared by my daughter Bronwyn (in case she's reading this), but the prawn and shrimp taco I ordered on a corn-flour tortilla (gluten-free) was GREAT! Today we visited tidal taco just after 12:00. Wait time for us was 45min. We had chicken, fish, and prawn. This has not been my first time at Tidal taco. Overall, our opinion is the fish and chicken tacos are the best over then other options. Even though there is a wait it is worth it and the scenery helps keep you mind off the time. Note there is no bathrooms so find one before hand especially if there is a long wait time. We tried to go to the bathroom down the road however, it was out of service.
If you don't like rustic or outdoor eating well this might change your mind. What asuper place right on the ocean & great tacos - to die for we have spent many years in Yuma Az & these tacos are even better. Where can you eat with the ocean view & breeze through your hair. It was a great place to take my visitors new to the coast. We had the fish tacos, beef and also the shrimp tacos. The food was fresh and each taco filled to overflowing. They were able to accommodate the person unable to take any spice which was appreciated. And the view is spectacular! Prices at $5.50 each taco made for a reasonable meal out for us all.
On a long weekend Sunday, we were informed that one taco would take 50-55 mins to prepare. This was due to the immense popularity of this tiny place. The menu is basic and so is the seating which adds to the charm. The band wasn't playing when we stopped, but what a great idea! Great food, music and ocean side dinning!Plenty of parking on the street.
