I had a craving for Ethiopian food but didn't want to drive all the way to my usual spot in downtown Baltimore. I stumbled upon this cozy restaurant tucked away in a strip mall, which also features an authentic Ethiopian shop. My husband and I shared the goat tibs, and I must say, the dishes were fresh and the service was fairly quick. We visited on a Sunday afternoon when there was only one other couple dining. We visited on Saturday, April 2, 2022, around 11:30 AM and were the first customers of the day. A friendly young lady took our order right away. The restaurant has a simple, cafeteria-style layout and is situated next to an Ethiopian market. Our food arrived in about 20 minutes, and it was hot, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We ordered the combination platter for two, which featured Injera bread along with three types of protein: lamb, chicken, and beef, as well as three vegetarian dishes. Everything was incredibly tasty. I highly recommend this place for a quick and casual meal! It's a hidden gem in Ellicott City!

The first time I had their food it was perfect. Tender meat, great seasoning, great portions. Idk what happened but this time the meat was really dry. The flavor was still there but it was just too hard for my toddler to chew. The attached photo is some pieces of meat from the Zilzil tibs. Very tough, very dry. This restaurant definitely deserves a 4.5-star rating. It exceeded a 4 but didn't quite reach a 5. I'd certainly return when they're at their peak. The sauce that comes with the Sambusas is incredible—smoky and full of flavor. The small spoon provided is perfect for drizzling it over your plate and the sambusa.
