I wish there was an option for 4 3/4 stars because I only had 1 minor complaint. I was driving out of the shore and was looking for a place for lunch when I found this quaint Puerto Rican restaurant that reminded of those hidden gems you would find in PR. I got the Cubano and Pernil sandwiches. My daughter loved the Cubano and said it was flavorful. I had the pernil sandwich and my only complaint was that it needed mayo or a garlic sauce because I felt the sandwich was a little dry. The pernil was seasoned perfectly and was delicious. I was so angry with myself for only ordering one alcapurria because it was outstanding. It wasn’t dry or overcooked. Definitely will be stopping here again.
If you're in search of genuine Puerto Rican cuisine, this is the spot for you. The food was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. The staff is fluent in both English and Spanish, so don't hesitate to visit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Food was out of this world felt like I was eating my Mama's food who passed a year ago.. My Honey and I will be going back..It was like being in Puerto Rico and the atmosphere was great..kind and friendly crew .very satisfied..
I'm really at my wit's end with this place! The food is excellent, but the customer service is absolutely terrible. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the tense atmosphere. The staff lack basic courtesy and manners.

I have had empanadas in Belleville, Newark, Elizabeth, Union and Plainfield. By far the meat filled empanadas far surpass any others that I have. Pastelles are pretty good as well.
Omg I went there for first time this Saturday, I bought arroz con gandules and pernil in was out of this world . definitely will be going back
