The new restaurant is located in the former 7-11 next to the liquor store on Arroyo. They have renovated the exterior to make it look appealing, and the inside is spacious. The ready-to-eat food is now placed upfront, as it is a popular choice for customers, along with ordering sushi. A few family favorites include maguro sushi, chicken karaage, potato salad, tonkatsu, salmon bento, tonkatsu bento, mixed sushi (California roll, futomaki), and mixed small roll sushi. Additionally, they have a Japanese market inside offering high-priced but good quality vegetables, as well as a variety of specialty Asian items.

We've been going to Tozai for years. Besides being great market, it's local and family owned. Tozai is our go-to for Japanese produce, which IMO is better than the larger Japanese markets. When we need nappa, daikon, or ooba (aka shiso), Tozai is the place. Years ago, a friend told me that the produce quality at Tozai was the best around. I have to agree that the quality is better and that their produce stays fresh longer. For prepared foods, recommend the tonkatsu (fried breaded pork cutlet), which is superior to those chain markets. Also, their beef and chicken teriyaki bowls.

I have been a regular at this restaurant since high school and I am thrilled that they were able to survive Covid and relocate to a spot with more foot traffic. It was strange to see them in a new location after being at the old one for so long, but I am happy to see that most of the staff are still there. They are always so friendly and serve the freshest sushi in town. Instead of spending money on overpriced, mediocre sushi elsewhere, I highly recommend supporting this local small business that has been serving quality food for over 40 years!

I wanted to try this place out because I like Japanese food and I wanted to see what they offer. Besides, it was on my way home after work, win win. I wasn't disappointed in the bento I got. It was delicious. I noticed the prices were increased from the pictures 6 months ago, I get it because of inflation, but I didn't think they increase was going to be that substantial. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars. Decent selection, I would go back and try other different items, including their sashimi. Reserva una mesa ahora

12/31/2022 today is the last day at this location. They will be closing after today and reopen on 1/8/2023 at their new location just down the street on Arroyo Drive before you get to Paramount Blvd. I love Tozai Foods. I've been going there for years. Service is impeccable. Prepared foods are the best. Sushi is fresh as can be. Note: the only location that has Fugetsu mochi in the SGV area. Happy New Year and we'll see you at the new location!

Nice Japanese market that has been in neighborhood for years and they're moving to a new location down the street. You can order sushi combos at the counter from 10am-4pm. I recommended to the them that they should put that on a sign. I wasn't aware so the gentleman that made my sushi was grumbling and upset the whole time cause I ordered too early.

Tozai food market is my convince market. If you run out of idea for feed your family, this is the place you want to go. Sashimi always fresh. Spicy tuna also very fresh. Saturday and Sunday has more choices of foods. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Don't forget the Mochi. I always get peanut butter and chocolate Mochi feeling from Fugatsudo.

This little Japanese market is so convenient. We are lucky to have it. For being so small they offer a lot of items not found in traditional markets in the area. Sushi n sashimi platters along with bento box meals. Thankfully the they were able to outlast the lockdowns and silly Covid restrictions. Reserva una mesa ahora

The new Tozai Market on Arroyo and Paramount, just east of the old location about half a mile away, is now open! I visited today and the food was fantastic. With a larger kitchen area, they are now offering some new items on their menu. Stop by and say hello, I'm sure they will appreciate it!
