Transport Hotel is a great meeting spot especially for those not familiar with the Melbourne CBD. It's right across the road from Flinders street station and you can sit outside or in. If your visiting Melbourne it's a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. On Wednesdays they do $12 burgers and pots. And between 5-7pm Monday to Thursday they have happy hour which offers $5 house wines. I ordered Korean fried chicken, in comparison to other dishes its size was very small. A friend I was dining with is gluten intolerant and they do not offer gluten free bread.
Every now and then I find myself meeting friends at Transport. The staff are usually great, the service is great, of course the location is amazing. But they charge like raging bulls! This is understandable given the location but I wouldn't find myself hanging around for too long. But alas I will be back! Only other negative is the toilets are up a flight of stairs but all in all its a great place to meet and have a drink before continuing your city visit.
Its worth the walk isnt it from the Regent Theatre in Collins Street to Fed Square and the Transport Hotel to the outdoor bar overlooking the Yarra River or Fed Square on such a balmy evening. Liked the choice of drink the waitress suggested, true fruity and yummy even got to lick the pineapple leaf. Ahh, pleasant sitting there by myself just watching over people walking chatting to friends. Ambience, Drink, Bliss
Had friends over from NZ decided to have lunch at the Transport Hotel as always excellent menu great beers and wine. I like the views here you can sit in the courtyard and watch all the happenings in Federation Square, or inside which overlooks the Flinders Station, but my favourite is on the outside decks overlooking the Yarra River. Well worth the visit.

We were here on a sunny Sunday afternoon and they were being slammed, this place was so busy, but the staff were all friendly and attentive, we got our drinks quickly and the food cam pretty quickly too considering how busy they were, will be back for real food next time, as their menu was really interesting and not on our radar for that visit.
Pooped in to have a look at the range of beers. Interesting and different. Great sense of space but can imagine being quite busy at times. staff friendly and efficient. Food menu varied and well priced. There on a Wednesday so had the burger and a pot special deal.
Very good spot to have a drink and watch the world go by. Great atmosphere and plenty of seating. I would have given this maximum scoring if my identical drinks orders (only 20 minutes apart) differed by $4. Not sure how that happened.
Directly opposite the information centre this lively meeting place is well situated to attract a lot of people. Food is good and fast, can be a bit noisy!

This is a good venue, location is excellent but it feels like they rely on that. Not much atmosphere on the Thursday night we went. Live music was good.
