Reply to the Response from the owner : Here one can see the problem, the people here don 't listen/read but conflate the issues. I didn 't complain about the substance of the answers, but the manner and the way the person answered my questions specifically the disrespectful mannerism and fragmented answers. Treating customers with courtesy and respect is essential to any service business and your failing in the basics were what cause the negative review, not the whatever policy you tried to explain. We had an absolutely lovely evening here after securing a last-minute reservation for the last night of our stay in the La Jolla area. Fine dining is such a treat in this era of shared plates, and AR Valentien pulls it off perfectly. Elegant, but not stuffy, and casual attire was fine (good as we hadn't packed dressy clothes! We started with a cocktail in the cozy bar and everything continued to be just right from there on in. Our server was outstanding, the food was delicious and every detail was perfect. Thank you for a delightful time!
We had a wonderful birthday lunch for a friend. Initially we were seated in an area which was a bit energetic re: the people being rather boisterous around us so I asked if we could be moved to a quieter area. The assistance we received was both gracious and timely. Our new location made for the perfect lunch. The food was incredible (the furikake crusted seared ahi in ponzu sauce; chicken salad sandwich on a croissant). Birthday desserts included a delectable chocolate creation and a passionfruit meringue delight. We will return!
