Cancale must be the epicenter of brittany's fish based cuisine. Its a small town with a nice promenade, shingle beach and small fishing industry. It also must have more restaurants per sq mile than any other place i've been to. Choosing one was quite difficult. Wood for the trees etc. We decided to choose one that looked child friendly and settled in the Ty breizh. The waiter gave us a table by the window and quickly took our orders. The restaurant had a nice chilled atmosphere and the table perfect for sitting back and watching the fishing boats go by.Foodwise we had the monkfish in armorican sauce, moules et frites and fishfinger and chips for the boy. All arrived quickly and was very nice...

The restaurant decor is wonderful, particularly with so many others nearby showing their age , even when renovated. The seat by the fire was perfect, and despite being very busy the service was perfect, particularly by the owner Rapha. We had the plateau de fruits de mer, which was nothing short of amazing, and took us well over 2 hours to finish! The food being served at other tables looked rather good, especially the lamb (pré-salé,) and everyone seemed rather pleased with their meal.Well worth the visit, and a lovely place to eat in this charming little beach town.
We had dinner in this restaurant for our kids' birthday. At the entrance there is a bowl of water for dogs, which are welcome here, unfortunately it's not the same for kids. The owners were very rude , kids asked for some pencils to colour and they received just 2 and the owner said he wanted them back . Kids were almost not allowed to talk , if they walked in the restaurant they would be sent immediately back at the table with a "sciò sciò " as if they were chicken. Food was below the average, we would expect higher quality for the price we paid.
Havent tried the food yet, but know I wont be back due to the very poor welcome from the most miserable waiting staff in the world. It always amazes me how places that clearly are there to service the tourist industry can be so unwelcoming of tourists! Or maybe its just that we are british. Either way, this is a business that deserves to fail, so hopefully it wont be here next time we return. I will write a separate review on the food if it ever shows up. Reserva una mesa ahora
We took friends from Wales there and felt embarrassed that we had chosen such a poor restaurant in a town with so much choice. The food was terrible - there was more bone and gristle than meat in one of the pork dishes, our choice of wine was not available and they claimed to only have half bottles of water [at €4] instead of large bottles [€5.] The service was also poor.
We ate at this restaurant in July 2015, the service was great and the food was outstanding. Especially the moules, which were probably the best we have ever had they were plump, tasty and plentiful. We have eaten moules all over France and decided to have the blue cheese variety at this restaurant it was a very good choice. If you are in this area you must pop in.
We live this place. Very welcoming staff, lots of character. The menu has plenty of choice with lots of fish and seafood options, as you would expect. There is also plenty of choice for the job fish eaters. The food is beautifully fresh, cooked to perfection and exquisitely presented. I also sampled a fabulous Breton bier called Chat Malo. Gorgeous.
This is a great place along the boardwalk for stopping for drinks and a lunch of fresh and delicious oysters. This a nice place to relax. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Reserva una mesa ahora
Good food, great choice of seafood at reasonable prices. Crepes left a little to be desired BUT other courses were very good.
Nice cosy little place right on the beach front. Super friendly service and excellent food. Great value for money
