Unica Cafe (formly La Unica Bakery And Cafe)

Today was my last attempt at giving this business my money. The food is not the best, its barely ok. You won 't leave feeling like it was worth the price. My partner had ordered a chicken sandwich once, it was terrible: thin unflavored meat, one leaf of lettuce that did not look fresh dry bread with no mayo or butter. Terrible. I 've been in the neighborhood for over 2 years I 've always noticed how imbalanced the professionalism energy is amongst the staff. People come here expecting pleasant, quick customer service at the start of their day for coffee/breakfast and/or lunch. Food is overpriced for the quality. I had the eggs and bacon which came with toast and homefries. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, the home fries lacked flavor and the 1 slice of toast was stale and burnt with no butter. To top that off i got the chocolate coco cake which looks delicious. Its not. The chocolate frosting was unedible. It came off the cake like plastic but did not taste as good as plastic(sad but true). The cake itself lacked flavor and to call that cake is offensive to cake. The coffee was good not great so hence the 1 star.

I went to La Unica Bakery the other day with my family and I had a great experience. The bakery and its staff were very welcoming on the cold day. We each got a coffee and split some pastries between the family. The environment was very welcoming- it is somewhere I would love to go to get work done in the future or go for a cup of coffee at any time of day. Unfortunately, I am not from the area but I look forward to going back soon! We even left with a delicious cake!

I visit this place mostly for bubble/boba tea and have tried their cakes twice. Honestly, the cakes are never fresh that's one thing I have observed and the bubble tea is above average. A friend of mine recommended their avocado toast, that's something I would try the next time and hope that's better!Update:Strawberry cheesecake: liked the presentation and the fact it isn't too sweet! On the other hand, could have done better with the crust/base.

Place was nice, well decorated. As for the food…I ordered the FU burrito which contained rice, eggs, cheese sausage. Looked pretty however it had ZERO flavor. The chocolate cake was trash .. the chocolate seemed to have been glued on the cake. Idk what that cake was but it was NOT CHOCOLATE. It was as if that piece of cake was sitting there for years! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Overpriced for poor quality food.

Croissant was delicious. Cappuccino was with bit burnt espresso shot, won't recommend. Orange juice is amazing and freshly squeezed. Not a fan of their french toast. I would recommend the sausage. Overall very commercial. Bakery items look great and I bet they taste the same.Food: 3/5

Don't like when baristas talk down to me... need social intelligence. Not even sure she intended to talk down to me but if it were someone with social intelligence this shop could've avoided a 3 star review as the barista wouldn't have accidentally talked down to me

I've been going to the Union City spot for years. I have so many favorites depends on my mood. My daughter loves their empanadas. I am loving the new JC heights location.
