It 's been a while since I 've been to a restaurant that I have absolutely no complaints about. Vein in Kaka 'ako 's SALT has indoor and outdoor seating and has a pretty extensive menu consisting of proteins, pastas and other starches), salads and various appetizers. My bosses and I came for work and started off with every dish that featured Sumida Farm watercress, which included the Washugyu Uni Butter Bone Marrow $26.50), Watercress Prosciutto Salad $17.50), and Porcini Shiitake Rub Rib Eye $40). The Watercress salad was SO amazing with the bright yuzu vinaigrette and crunchy prosciutto balancing out the sharp, earthy watercress. The rib eye was very tender and the pistou that was featured...

I literally had no idea this place existed until my friends recommended it. Very small location inside of the SALT in Kakaako. The ambience is very romantic, great place for a first date ; I visited Vein with a bunch of friends for a birthday celebration. There were about 10 12 of us and they accommodated our group very well! Our waiter was very friendly and they were also very quick to serve us. *NOTE: their menu changes often the menu you see on Yelp may be different when you visit (this is according to the waiter . Now let 's talk about the food: Uni Carbonara: beautiful presentation! It looked so elegant. However, if you 're not a fan of uni or seafood, I would not recommend getting this...
Came here on a Tuesday night with my family. We originally wanted to eat at Moku's instead, but with a 25 min quoted wait, we decided to walk around SALT to see what else was there. We came across Vein which was pretty much empty and decided to come here instead. We sat in their little patio area which was really nice. We ordered their nori chips and truffled goat arancini for starters. For entrees, we got the mushroom truffle risotto, porcini cream pasta and finished with their bread pudding. The nori chips were different than we thought they would be. I expected it to be like deep-fried seaweed (like the ones you that's used in sushi), but it was different. It was pretty good but probably...
We had seen Vein a few times and finally decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a charming ambiance and excellent service. We sampled a few red wines, which were enjoyable although we didn't catch the names. The appetizers, particularly the Nori chips made from potato, sweet potato, and Brussels sprout leaves, were delicious. I personally skipped the tako, but it looked appetizing and the others in my group seemed to enjoy it. As for the bone marrow, I had never tried it before but found it to be quite tasty, especially with the accompanying toast. Our server kindly offered us extra toast since we were sharing. For the main course, there were no fish options available, so I decided on... Reserva una mesa ahora
I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant because the menu seemed impressive, but I was disappointed by the entrees. However, the appetizers were fantastic. The Uni bone marrow was especially delicious. The tako was a bit tough, but the sauces and flavors were excellent. When our entrees arrived, I found a piece of hair in my Bolognese after a few bites. It happens, not a big deal. However, my boyfriend's lamb was extremely fatty. I would have expected a higher quality cut for the price we paid ($45+). I tried to find information on where the ingredients were sourced from on the menu, but the restaurant didn't provide that detail. Typically, upscale restaurants take pride in...
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on Valentine's Day. Really nice ambiance and the prices were pretty reasonable. We did have to wait a decent amount of time for our entrees to come out, but our waiter was apologetic and appreciative of our patience. This was our first time trying bone marrow appetizer, and I honestly don't know how to describe the flavor. All I can say is that you need to try it for yourself! I got the grilled tako and aosa nori pasta, which was delicious. It was very light and they didn't skimp on the octopus. My boyfriend ordered the uni carbonara. He enjoyed the dish but the uni flavor was a bit too strong for his liking (this was his first time trying anything uni...
The Good: Conveniently located at SALT Kakaako The food was delicious and so inventive, I really enjoyed it The salad was probably my favorite, the tako salad dish Everything on the menu looked good, it was really hard not to order EVERYTHING But everything we ordered was delicious Ambiance is on point, dark/moody, romantic but low key fancy I like the view of the kitchen and all the artistry chefs at work Service was awesome The Bad: Nothing was bad at all... I had a good experience. I think the only thing bad was I couldn't choose what to order cuz everything seemed like a good choice to eat. But it was only me and BF and we unfortunately can't eat it all! That just means we have to come b...
To serve this as a $50 special is quite frankly ridiculous. I 'm all for repurposing extra inventory as specials to not let food go to waste but getting basically French fries and a sirloin steak that 's well done when asked for a medium rare is embarrassing for a place this good. Just look at the pictures of porcini ribeye from others compared to this. Stick to their regular stuff. Reserva una mesa ahora
It was our first time dining at Vein. We loved it! Everyone there was super friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Andrew was the best! We went with what he recommended.... And he did not disappoint. Everything we had was so flavorful. We will definitely be back.
Food portions were totally skimped out and totally not worth the price. The food was nothing out of the ordinary.
