I had a birthday party at Walawwa and my experience from start to finish was amazing.Even though our party was a short-notice event, Nash was able to accommodate our party needs, explaining everything thoroughly and presenting all the options clearly. We in and out in a matter of minutes with a party scheduled in.On the day, we were very well looked after by Suranga and the team at Walawwa catered to our guests throughout the duration of the event. The venue was well presented, the restroom faciliies were very clean, there was ample parking for our guests and the climate was very comfortable.The food was prepared and presented very well. Being a Sri Lankan it's so pathetic to write such a bad comment on a Sri Lankan restaurant. Don't go to walawwa for food. I went there with six other friends for Friday night buffet. There were not many varieties of items. Flavours were not up to at least average standard. One good thing was there were good plain and egg hoppers. Desserts were terrible. Only fruits, jelly and chocolate mousse. By the time I had desserts, they didn't even bother to refill. Our table was so close to music corner so ears were blasted. Doesn't worth at all for $29. Never go again unless I get good reviews from my friends.
Day EIGHT of my trip from Perth to Melbourne and not driving anywhere for the first time apart from some local shopping. At lunch time I noticed a good turnout at the Restaurant in the Sandown Regency hotel. It turned out the Bungalow was doing its Sunday special 'Authentic Sri Lankan Lunch' which turned out to be a very inviting buffet. The food was really interesting and extremely tasty. It was packed out with what I assume were groups of Sri Lankans. If you haven't eaten Sri Lankan and live anywhere near Noble Park, this would be a great introduction. The polos (Jack Fruit) was a revelation.
Last week I celebrated my 70th birthday at Walawwa Restaurant in Noble Park with family and some friends. The event was a great success and I am thankful to the staff whose service was courteous,efficient and professional. I am particularly pleased with the contribution made by Ms DAKSHA who went out of her way to ensure that our needs were metro. As expected the menu was Sri Lankan and the food was authentic and good value for money. ARNIE provided the music and entertainment and made it a memorable event for all those present. My experience was great! I had three Aussie friends with me there last December and they enjoyed the food very much. When making reservations, I requested a special dish in case my friends found the buffet too spicy and the team obliged. The prices were reasonable and the restaurant was clean and spacious. We went there a little early and had the whole place to ourselves for one hour :) The only complaint I have is that the music was a little too loud.
I just had my 50th party here with more than 50 friends and relatives. The place was decked out great and all our arrangements were catered for. Special thanks to the Chef who catered for our special needs. The food was fantastic and plentiful. The atmosphere was great and Suranga made sure that our needs were looked after.Great experience.
