"I just had a rump steak and was quite disappointed because it was tough, and the meal as a whole was not hot. My girlfriend ordered the hunter's chicken, which was very dry. I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon."

I stumbled upon this pub after visiting EUREKA, the children's museum in Halifax, and I'm really glad I did. It was a hot afternoon, and the staff recommended a table outside in the garden. Even though it's located near a main road, it wasn’t noisy at all. The menu was quite extensive, featuring a variety of classic pub dishes along with some additional options to satisfy your cravings. My partner enjoyed the duck salad in plum sauce, which was excellent, and I had the warm Camembert with apricot chutney as a starter, followed by a crumble that was absolutely divine. If you find yourself in the area looking for a place to eat, this pub is definitely worth a visit!

This pub is ideal for families looking to enjoy a meal with their children. The menu offers the typical fare you’d find at chain pubs, with similar choices available at other locations within the group. It’s not a place I would recommend for just drinks, as it focuses more on dining. Although it doesn’t have a play area, it’s not really suited for those without children. On a positive note, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is clean and cozy. For dining, I recommend sticking to classic pub dishes and steering clear of anything too dry or overly complex.

They have an extensive selection of cask ales, and the wine list is quite impressive. As a self-proclaimed wine lover, I can confidently say that it’s exceptional. The menu features classic Village Inn dishes, offering satisfying meals that will please your taste buds, even if they aren't extraordinary. The beer garden is well-kept, although it is a bit close to the main road—but you can’t have everything! All in all, it’s a delightful place that’s definitely worth a visit.
