Let's go onwards and upwards. These negative vibes are bringing me down and my aura is black (if that's possible but you get my gist). Now the Wyke Lion may be classed as Bradford but it's not that far away from Leeds. You won't get a nose bleed or start supporting the Bantams. In fact it's a whisker away from the M62 so is a good stop off point for a feed, catch up or crafty drink or two. This is a good pub. First up, you've got the roar of a real fire. Very cosy and welcoming. The inside is pretty as well with a real country farm feel too it, lots of wood, stone floor and wall hangings. Just the place to settle down on a cold Sunday afternoon. Came across this Pub after visiting EUREKA (the museum for children) in Halifax. I am pleased we did as well it was a hot afternoon and the staff suggested a table outside in the garden. Despite being next to a main road it wasn't very noisy at all. The Menu selection was extensive with some of the usual pub offerings as well as a selection of additional dishes to whet your appetite. The Duck salad in plumb sauce my partner had was excellent as was my starter of Warm Camembert with Apricot chutney and to finish the Crumble was to die for. So if you're at a loose end and in the area give it a try.
This pub is ideal for familys looking for somewhere to eat with kids. The food is as you would expect from a pub chain and the same or very similar can be found in other members of the group. I wouldn't advise going just for a drink as this is definitly an eating pub. Although the lack of play area might lead one to think differently this is not the kind of place to go to without children. All that said the staff are friendly and the place is clean and cosy. My recomendation for food is to go for standard pub food and stay away from anything too dry or too complicated.
