I was recommended to dine at Wayama by a friend. Not all recommendations work out , but I am pleased to say Wayama exceeded my expectations.Wayama is a small, good value Japanese restaurant. The staff and chef are all Japanese as far as we could tell.There is a wide range of sushi ,sashimi, tempura and udon dishes.We started with 2 entrees each just to try things out. We had the okonomiyaki which was delicious and served on a skewer. The snapper sashimi with a touch of chili was also top shelf. Soft shell crab very good and the wagyu beef carpaccio was excellent. I went to this restaurant after positive reviews but was disappointed with the service and I thought the quality of food was not as good as expected.There were 3 or 4 other tables and one waitress that seemed too busy to offer recommendations for dishes. We have the sashimi snapper which was room temperature and only had average flavour. The seafood pancake on the stick was yummy but the main wagyu beef was more like boiled beef in a more runny sauce. Although it was edible it is much better at other Japanese restaurants. I travelled out of my local area and was disappointed with the overall experience.
All the restaurants in this area are quite hidden at the moment by road works all along the street which is a shame. Hopefully the road mess will be finished soon. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the lady who does all the waiting on tables is extremely efficient and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious and well presented. They have great plum wine and hot and cold sake as well. Our whole family has dined there often and think it is one of the best around. Absolutely recommend.
These guys took us as a walk in after 8:30 on Saturday evening as the place down the road messsd is about It's much to look at but their food was top quality and the service would be hard to top. Our Uber driver also messed us about so the waitress saw us in the cold and reopened so we could wait inside until the driver could find the highway. Try the apple saki

We dine here regularly and have always had the best food! It is authentic and a refreshing change from other 'Japanese restaurants' in the area. The couple who own it are accomodating and always friendly. It has meals that are child friendly- even if they aren't labelled specifically as a children's menu. Amazing food and service - a real treat!
This has been our go-to restaurant for some time. We love the delicately cooked and finely battered tempura dishes and the salmon teriyaki. Miki, the waitress, is the quintessential, gracious Japanese lady. The decor is 'interesting' but that's not what attracts the many devotees to this popular restaurant.
We had dinner here for the second time, and again we were not disappointed. While it is a small and non-pretentious place, the food is amazing, quick, delicious, interesting, authentic and served with a smile.
Great food , wide variety of dishes , great Japanese beer that is imported not locally brewed . Whitebait, is exceptional and the crab spring rolls

Service excellent and very helpful in guiding food choices. Fried food light and tasty as was all the dishes we tried.
