I visit Andernach frequently for business and I go out of my way to visit this restaurant. I have eaten here dozens of times and I can honestly say I have NEVER had a bad meal. I bring guests here and they all love the food. Some say the potato soup is the best they ever had. Others say the pork medallions are the juiciest pork pieces they have ever eaten. My son is a picky eater and he loves the food here as well. I have a hard time finding chicken while in Andernach and they are very accomodating (substituting chicken in other dishes or preparing something special for me). The Middle Rhine Valley is the romantic part of one of Europe's big rivers. It is here between steep hills that the river develops its dramatic quality (Loreley, medieval castles and more). Although this is a prime destination of tourism there are not some many places where you can find decent food in a nice environment. We were in Andernach for two nights and made the mistake of coming here the first night, so there was never a question of trying anywhere else. The first night was simply one of best meals we have eaten in a restaurant for a very long while. The lamb fillet with green beans, potatoes au gratin was simply superb. The second night was a more limited menu because of the local music festival, but whilst simpler dishes were on offer, they too were of exceptional quality. My husband booked this restaurant as a surprise birthday arrangement for me. This restaurant has nice outdoor space for sitting down and enjoy a glass of wine. The waiter is very friendly and speaks very good English. Also he's very busy serving all the tables. Have patience and don't feel shy to yell if you have to. Highly recommended to reserve a table if you plan to dine on weekends. I ordered pork steak with cheese sauce, worth the time waiting for it. We ordered also one bottle of white wine from the recommendation. But I am not a big fan of mild sweet/dry flavour. I supposed I would have found one more to my taste if I had read the wine menu. a truly rustic and dreamy ambiente awaits you not only in the courtyard but also in the restaurant itself. they see the history of the house. really nice. the services (solveig and theresa) were totally sweet and very flotted. thanks again for the wee recommendation. it was also faster than we know from other restaurants on Saturday night. my black medaillons in pot were really delicious. all in all, the merowingerhof is a really great restaurant that I recommend and definitely want to visit again.

Decided on this venue on our first night in Andernach. We were welcomed on entry by very friendly staff. We both decided to have the Argentine steak for dinner. Wonderful quality and well worth the cost. Steak with all the trimmings was really good quality and massive in portion size. If you are in this town I would recommend your evening menu here. It opens at 1800 which is great for eating before visiting any pubs/clubs or just walking on the promenade.

The food was delicious, and the staff was really friendly. We were seated in the cozy interior due to rain, but the outside pattio looked like it would only ehnance the experience. We had the pork with the gorgonzola sauce and it was simply divine. Also, the prices were really reasonable for a restaurant serving food of this quality. Dinner here made the peak of our day. I would definitely reccomend it!

Weinhaus Merowingerhof is a place to relax and enjoy in spring, summer, fall and winter. In summer you can enjoy a cosy summer breeze outside, in winter dinner close to a warming fireside. The menue offers German and Mediterranean Cuisine with local and international wines. All is very tasty and nicely decorated. Friendly staff takes care of the guests. Great ambiance! Love this 1789 Winehouse were you eat in what were rooms. I had salad and some wine and definetly enjoyed it as did our hosts
