Gluten Free review This was my second time coming to Nick's. Both times, with perfect weather, we ate at the sidewalk tables. The first time was a year before on a Memorial weekend Sunday around 4 pm. The atmosphere was serene, where I enjoyed a bison burger (which they no longer have on the menu) on a GF bun, while my wife enjoyed her Southwest salad. We would have rated the experience a 4 or 5 at the time. This time, dining with my sister who is also a celiac, it was a Friday in late June around 5:30 pm. Seems like the kind of place that should reliably please all types--if you keep your expectations modest. Everyone here tries really hard, and the customer service is good all around. They take reservations and are baby-friendly. But I 've had two disappointing meals. The funny thing is that appetizers, drinks, and desserts are solid, but the mains are the weak link. Total 5!!! We dined in a party of three, and this place just blew our socks off! We started with the artichoke dip, which was outstanding! We moved on to our entrees of Steak Sandwich, Burger, and for myself the Five Cheese MAC and Cheese! All of our dishes came out perfect. Some Mac and Cheese can come out kinda dry, not at Nicks! It was so good!! Tip! On the menu you will notice that one of the five cheeses is ghost pepper--do not like that deter you! I came here for brunch and it was the best I 've had in the downtown Wilmette area. The menu was super varied, so I rocked sweet, while the hubs rocked savory. We were both happy, but there 's another reason I keep coming back. That magical thing is their Sao Paulo Steak Sandwich. This review is a bit challenging for me, as I typically prefer a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere when I go out for dinner with a glass of wine. Nick's, however, is quite lively and somewhat noisy—definitely a happening spot. I won't lower their rating for not fitting my usual dining preferences, as that wouldn't be fair. They truly excel at what they aim to do. The food is excellent, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I have no complaints and was very satisfied with my experience. I was helping out my family's store at Wilmette Summerfest and as much as I love street food I was craving something a bit healthier. I ended up ordering pick up from Nicks since it's directly across the street from my family's store). I ordered the Thai salad with grilled chicken and a side order of fries with ranch. The Thai salad was SO GOOD!!! It was perfectly crispy, crunchy and flavorful. I loved the dressing as well. It was not too sweet and had a nice hint of sour I personally like things a bit more spicier) but the dressing was on point. I also loved the fries. They were not soggy by the time I got around to them and perfectly seasoned.
I absolutely adore their Salmon BLT, which is served on grilled sourdough and features bacon, avocado, tomato, and cilantro aioli. The portions are quite generous and also come with fries. I love the Salmon BLT so much that I haven't ventured into trying other menu items, though they all look delightful. My husband tried the Nick's Burger and also gives it high praise! The specialty cocktails are impressive as well; my personal favorite is the Blood Orange Margarita.
This was an average American restaurant. The chicken wings were the smokiest and salty wings I have ever had. Brussel sprouts were brussel sprouts, nothing exciting. Dining partner had the stir fry and it was exceptionally sweet. Server was good and offered to take certain veggies out is stir fry and brought me more sauce.

I've not had a bad experience here yet, knock on wood. The staff is pretty nice, and the food is very good. I like the menu variety as it isn't just a typical repeat-every-item menu. The food was good, but I've had better shrimp in other places. Good restaurant overall.
