You could easily miss this place as it’s very unassuming from the outside. It’s is a small setting but has a feel about it as soon as you walk in. A lot of tables reserved so was really glad we nabbed the last table. The wine list is extensive so the friendly staff member recommended a lovely rose for us and it did not disappoint. We savoured every sip while we tucked into our deli artisan board, lovely fresh ingredients and worth every penny. Lots of finger type foods to choose from so I’ll have to go back and try some more! So friendly in here that it would be almost impossible not to come back. The only downside is that the chairs are wooden and quite hard and it could do with some cushio...
Winedown preston is a small cozy bar just off the main fishergate street. Blink and you will miss it, so keep your eyes wide open and you will be delighted. The entrance takes you down a flight of stairs to the main bar area situated below street level. It's cozy candle lit atmosphere takes you to a calmer place away from the hustle and bustle. The wine list is amazing, but there are beers and spirits also. An absolute must is the cheese board designed for sharing over a drink and a chat whilst your taste buds have a party hopping through the selection of fruity,tangy,spicy cheeses. This bar is an absolute must visit for anyone. I found it by accident, and just keep going back.
Loved our time here. Probably due to the various glasses of wine we had! Loved the ability to have 50ml measures so you could have a few different wines across the session. The candlelit atmosphere was nice and calming. (We did go early afternoon on a Saturday, it was getting more buzzy by the time we left). The folk at the bar were friendly and the wine list was extensive. We tried a few orange wines and a few red. The ancient vines one available by the glass was the best. One of Preston's hidden gems. With its candles and twinkly lights, this place transports you and feels like you could be in a trendy wine bar on Las Ramblas! Cheese platters are excellent and the choice of wine is incredible. We had a Portuguese and a Georgian red, both of which were delicious. The staff are very friendly, chatty and welcoming. The atmosphere is delightful and always seems to attract a lovely crowd. It's unique, nowhere else quite like it in Preston, so somewhere to really treasure.

Winedown is a hidden gem. It’s owner Dougy and his staff are extremely friendly and also are of the high quality that remember customers. I recently took some relatives in from Norway, they had been previously and insisted on going again. The selection of drinks is large, they are well served and the deli side of things is always good quality with homemade hummus. Going to Winedown is like going to your own secret club. If you appreciate good things go to Winedown once and you will be hooked.
I’ve been around the block a few times and have never found a more welcoming establishment. Great wines, great beers, a landlord with more banter than you can shake a stick at and the best pub quiz I’ve ever done. Can’t recommend enough!
Gorgeous wines and huge selection. Wasn't so sure on the cheese and meat board needed more variety, but could have just been an off day. Lovely vibe especially on quieter days
