Dropped in on a Wednesday Lunchtime to find all tables full of people eating. The staff were friendly which led us to decide to stay for Lunch when a table became free. It was a cold frosty day and the crackling real fire and good beer it was a lovely way to while away an hour or so. The Steak and Kidney Pie had a lovely crust and generous filling that came with a good selection of veg. The Loaded fries with a side of chilli served with sour cream was amazing. James and Holly were so friendly. A great experience indeed. We will be back……
Food is absolutely delicious We had Squid, chicken wings, loaded nachos and prawn Marie rose ciabbatta with homemade coleslaw. Highly recommend the loaded fries too! James the barman is fantastic and keeps the customers happy Caitlin the waitress is amazing too. We are regulars here and will keep on coming as it's the best place to get food in Upton!
Hadn't booked for Sunday lunch but the barman stated he'd build us a table if he couldn't find an empty one ! One was found and the food was excellent. Thick slices of beef and a good selection of vegetables. The staff were so friendly and an excellent choice of beers. Friends had meals there in the evening which were again excellent.
As always fantastic food. James and Caitlin served us today, both extremely courteous and friendly. James has great banter with customers. Hubby always says it’s the best pint in town. So warm and welcoming with the open fire this time of year. All the staff are the Anchor are very professional and lovely. Highly recommend a visit.

Authentic old English pub. Welcomed with a roaring fire and pleasant staff. Dog friendly plenty of treats. Good selection of bear and wine. Lovely home cooked lunch using local fresh and tasty produce. Very reasonably priced. Will be returning without a doubt
I believe the lasagne at this restaurant is the best I've ever had. The service is great, with wonderful staff like James and Holly who do excellent work. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, reminiscent of an old school pub.
This pub is exceptionally friendly and offers delicious food, along with a real open fire. James and Josh provided excellent service and were very welcoming.
