Zum Schiff - Reservar una mesa

We found this restaurant through the 2011 Guide by the "Tafelgesellschaft zum Goldenen Fisch" and since we have had good experiences in the past, we decided to try Zum Schiff. The location, while a bit out of the way and hidden, is idyllic and picture postcard perfect with tables are set right along the Rhine river. The setting was simply perfect and therefore we had high expectations for the food. But unfortunately we were quite disappointed. To be fair, the food was ok but not great and not at all worth the price. For the first time ever in Switzerland, we actually finished our meals still feeling hungry! And this is a country where the portions are extremely generous. Probably we caught the restaurant on a bad night. They were very very busy and we suspect that they just did not have enough food to serve to all the guests. However, they should have informed us and made a gesture but there was neither. It's really a pity because we thought that we had discovered an real gem and would have enjoyed going back and sitting for hours in that perfect setting.Also note that they add a 2.5% surcharge if paying by credit card!

we were randomly fighting in this restaurant, and we were surprised. there is the garden area (which is more for a afternoon snack), but the restaurant belongs to another owner and concentrates on more expensive dinner. while they are a vegetarian...and meat menu that eats real worth (local) fish. we have found a warm welcome, a reasonable service and a very good kitchen. we will definitely go back there, probably celebrate family events, where we do not count the pennies (it is still favorable, but, above all, worth the one they get out of it). it also has a great view, right on the Rhine. to get there, it is best with the bike or car, as there are no public transport means. it is recommended to reserve most evenings, especially during summer season and sunny days.

a very nice building with wood structures directly on the Rhine. in summer the seat outside is an extra. a good selection of excellent oriented is offered. the quality of food is excellent as the service by the friendly staff. good wine list.

Service fine, food tasty, ambiance inside pleasant enough, would return. Location very peaceful next to the crystal clear water of the Rhein and a current powered small people ferry to Germany
