We had reserved a table few weeks before to celebrate a friends birthday for guests for Our friend went in first before the others showed up, the lady spoke to her in German. Our American friend responded to her with her limited German....There was obviously communication problem due to language. Instead of trying to help the customer the owner lady was lecturing her in German, that she is in Germany and should speak German and they are not required to speak English, etc.. When I arrived, my friend was obviously upset with the attitude she received and the owner came to me asked whether I spoke German, and repeated to me the same things she told my friend, in German. Then we were both upset...

In this incredibly uncertain time Zum Spreisel is where we go for our comfort food. I’ve seen a couple of reviews here recently about the owner being rude and frankly I think they are incredibly unfair and unkind. I can’t actually imagine how challenging it...must be to own a restaurant right now from the economic stress of being shutdown completely or limited to take-out and having to develop a completely different business model almost instantly to survive to dealing with the evolving regulations to dealing with customers who are either unaware of those regulations or are willful ignorant or who are looking to vent their stress. We have been to this restaurant many times and I must be true the food is great. Last time we made a booking for a table at on a Monday, we arrived minutes early the door was open so we went in not...expecting to be served, it was really cold and all we wanted to do was sit down and wait until they were ready. The Owners Wife was outraged that we had even come in and told us that we could not stay and would have to leave immediately. We left and walked around for to minutes and went back, the door this time was locked so we waited and she came and opened the door and proceeded to rant at us saying that we had not booked for we had booked got which was not right, she again said we would have...

This was my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg! The food was so delicious and the staff was super friendly! The restaurant has both an English and German menu, so if your German is rusty (like mine) ask the host. Also, the beer from the restaurant is...SO good! We ordered sausage and Rouladen that was absolutely perfect. Do yourself a favor and order potatoes (Kartoffel) too! Reserva una mesa ahora

The food here is absolutely incredible!! The most complete German-food menu I’ve ever experienced and all of the generous portions have that authentic home-cooked feeling. The location overlooking the bridge means eating outside is a visual as much as a culinary treat. If you are...looking for the most German food options cooked to perfection then this is the place to go!

The food was insanely delicious and very authentic German. Better than at my mum at home . The food deserves stars really, but sadly it took quite some time to arrive and the owner (an older woman) was super rude. I would still go...back in a heartbeat and try to avoid the lady and get served by the younger friendlier waitresses

In one week, I went four different times! Different entree every time and was never disappointed. Was remembered, welcomed and treated like family. AMAZING FOOD! Superb service! Will be back EVERY TIME I’m in Heidelberg! Fried potatoes are a MUST!

Very traditional German food. If you enjoy classic German dishes well prepared, come here. They have a wide variety of traditionals, mostly meaty and very tasteful. Do not expect anything else. And yes good, again very German, beer and wine. Reserva una mesa ahora

I am from Heidelberg and this is a traditionel place. They cook fantastic german kitchen in a very good quality. Although it is direct at the old bridge the quality is that fine that also local people come here.will come back

This place has a very mom and pop feel. The food was excellent. My only complaint is that they wouldn’t let my kids share a meal. They’d rather waste food and make money than save the food.
