If you are looking for authentic German food with and authentic vibe, this is the place to eat! Hands down the best meal in Mainz. A must for everyone in the area. Spent per week in mainz and this is the best meal I had in Germany. Not only is the food absolutely amazing to treat the hosts You as a family! This place is really the hidden jewel! In our week here, my wife and I can really say that we welcome the most in town when we are here! The reviews are not in front of me. This place is excellent!

I live in Chicago, so I can’t visit as much as I’d like, but every time I travel to Frankfurt, a stop in Mainz and dinner at Zur Kanzel is a must. The hospitality is second to none, the food is always delicious, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I have now visited six times over the last five years, and each time makes me happy I’ve come back and ensures I will visit again.

Amazing German restaurant with great food and wine. The place is very sweet and rustic inside with a warm feeling. The owner is wonderful and speaks excellent English. I will definitely return. Also ideal for Spargle season, huge portion and delicious!

Wonderful. Delicious. Great attention from the hostess and hostess. A real jewel. Excellent food on a simple menu of classic (local) dishes. Large regional wines. Charming, warm ambience.
