At first we came into the hotel, the welcoming was quite harsh but once we got to the restaurant we were warmly welcomed by the employees and accompanied to our table. One of the waiters immediately offered us a drink and prepared it in front of our table. The drink was fantastic. The employees weren't the most experienced however they were extremely nice and this I prefer 100% to a pro who's not really interested in his/her guests. The food on the other hand was okayish however not up to the level the restaurant probably wants to be at. I had the fish my girlfriend the chicken and both were a mix of warm and cold. The location itself is very lovely - probably the best location in town.

We were attracted by the menu but the chicken breast was way too salty and dead dry. The other dishes were flat with overcooked vegetables. No place to eat. The service varied from experienced but not very interested to inexperienced but friendly.

The refurbishing of this historical fort is spectacular. The room was spacious, with modern amenities, but still retained character. The hotel itself is centrally located, super easy to get around from Horta. And, finally, it has an amazing view!

We had a nice lunch on a rainy day by the pool. The view is great. The food and service are just okay. Still worth a visit to sit out and see all of the historic touches from the fort.

Awful in every way but the view. Staff were slow and uncaring. I had cod medallions that were full of bones, my husband had steak which was chewy. It was difficult to get the bill as staff were not attentive. By far the worst meal that we had in the Azores. The views are great.

Had dinner there during stay in Horta as we wanted to experience a different taste than the traditional Azorean Food Culture and we were curious of the menu.Overall the food was tasty! However the service was extremely slow: We arrived around 7.45 PM asking for a table for 2. The friendly receptionist told the restautarant is busy right now, however a table should be ready by 8.15 PM. Surprisingly we had a glance into the restaurant when walking to the bar and did see only a few tables busy... We agreed and had a seat in the bar (nice view from the bar to Mt. Pico and the Horta Marina). There we ordered two simple Aperitiv Drinks. That went quite fast. Positively surprised the waitress asked us to have a seat at a nice table already at 8.10 PM. Not to mention our two Apero Drinks were not yet served (~20 mins later) although we asked for them in the meantime. We then speditively ordered our dinner menu. It took them a while to serve the simple Couvert (Olives, Oil, Salt, Butter, Bread). The bread got forgotten several times and we had to ask for it as many times... The Apero drinks were still not served by now although the staff confirmed again and again they will be here in a short moment... We then wanted to cancel the drinks as we wanted to switch to wine for our starter... Astonishingly, then the drinks came quickly... After ~40mins. After the Couvert there was another long break until the Starter was served and another one afterwards until the main course was served. Overall the food was tasty and nicely presented. We were disappointed by the service efficiency and experience as it did not meet our expectations with regards to the prices of the location and the image they want to represent with their brand.

We had a 1st floor room overlooking the harbour so the view was lovely. Room was ok but had a funny smell & carpet was stained. The bathroom was clean but had the tiniest shower ever! Breakfast was nice. Hotel was quiet & peaceful. Reception staff were very helpful.

In our first day in Horta, we have discovered the restaurant. We have settled down the table by pool and old castle walls and sea beyond. Our wonderful, attentive waitress helped us with the menu and wine to choose. I have had the perfectly cooked tuna...mostly we were amazed by the fantastic waitress run the service single handedly, sufficiently with smile in her face all night. Definitely recommend if you want nice food, service and atmosphere.
