"Well, it's no longer a surprise: the Mainausicht is already one of the local pilgrimage sites for fishermen on Lake Constance. The fact that this culinary gem, with incomprehensible modesty, calls itself “Kiosk” and has an almost vanishingly inconspicuous web presence, can hardly be understood as a staunch guest. No high stacking, no advertising promises, just good and fresh kitchen. Admittedly, I was here for the first time in September. Before that, I've been blurred several times. Friends from the other shores of Lake Constance often used their boat, but had to anchor further outside and were then picked up by the in-house boat transfer. Return after the fish meal. What service! It is more convenient to get from the country. The Mainaublick lies a bit out of the otherwise violent and often crowded place Uhldingen and, as the name suggests, just opposite the popular flower island of Mainau. If you are lucky to get a table here in the evening, you are just stirred from sunset and the scenic view. There is also a Schoppen Grauburgunder from Meersburg – and one flows away from bliss. But before that, a table must be won. In the interior glazed towards the lake you sit tight, but cozy together, rather rustic on plastic chairs. Here you can already see the original wooden kiosk around which everything has been created. But the right feeling is only on the terrace, under trees and parasols, partly at some tacky tables and chairs, of course with that view on the lake. Reservation seems to be announced. My personally forward-looking companion was initially rather dismissed, but 2 hours later we had reconciled with the dominant tone. Such a direct “gell” as here, which is not inconsistent, is a rare one – but can also be easily booked under local colony and local customs. For this, the aparte Juniorkellner turned straight pirouettes and already beats up almost before courtesies. Now for dinner. On the map there are a number of fish cellar dishes (meats, Zander, salmon trout), almost all with supplement potatoes and all around 14, 15 euros. Salad can be picked up on the counter, a small portion for 3,90, a large one for 4,90 euros. There are also some meat dishes, as are smaller vasper. You should drink a white wine from the lake. Meersburg is right around the corner, Hagnau also – best destinations. We chose a salmon trout and a zander fillet. Both were opulent portions, which were served on oval countertops and were very nicely garnished with lemon, raw cucumbers, radish and carrot slices, and some pinned red bee. I could not have eaten potatoes under any circumstances – on our request, we were allowed to pick up a supplement salad from the buffet (with 1 Euro additional fee for the small and 2 Euro additional for the large portion). The fish was butter soft, without tangible bones, decomposed on the tongue and tasted delicious to the chicken. Where there is too much oil in the game elsewhere, you are going to be more economical with fat. Nevertheless, a high percentage is advisable at the end: in our case a strong aromatic will for 2.40 euros. The Grauburgunder from Meersburg is available for 2,20 euros (0.1 litres) or 4,00 euros (one quarters). Juhu, there are still real neighborhoods present and not kinky 0.2-liter variants as in other parts of the Republic. The resolute operation does not know about new EU regulations and gives out as ever. We're right. The wine choir (2.50 Euros) can also be enjoyed in the traditional district handle glass. Very sympathetic. The freshly prepared foods have been served astonishingly fast, overlong waiting times can really not be discussed. From the salad buffet, the crunchy and recent radish salad tasted best for me, unfortunately, the tomatoes had to be a little refreshed. My companion found the carrot salad boring, but slept in the green leaf salads. Due to the narrowness, we moved to vacationers from NRW to the table, who were not very pleased at first, but then suddenly rose when we exchanged excursion tips and gastronomic recommendations. We can't say much about cleanliness, as we were blinded by sunset and the Grauburgunder. At the end we waved in thought to friends on the other side of the lake, to whom we owe this recommendation. The next day, rain and storm blows started. What a grand finale!"

"It is unbelievable how much fish can be destroyed at the Lake Constance on an extended weekend – and also with pleasure! We have already spoken about the wide spread of the name garlic in the fishing resort. Especially in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen and Überlingen, this (feeling) family dynasty seems to be mainly on fish. In the Uhldinger Poststrasse you will find two garlics in the Postrasse – just opposite. Vis a vis the already very praised “Uhldinger Fischtheke” lies the fish snack of Ulrike garlic. The fact that one should not be deterred from the term “refresh” is now well known. At times, high-quality, absolutely fresh goods are found here in a nice, family, unobstructed environment where you sit close together and can already close great acquaintances. So, after arriving at an early Friday afternoon at the beginning of September, we set ourselves first in this fish snack. In a maritim-designed, hexagonal hut in the tile look, the fish is bruised, the salad is dressed. In front of a hatch you can place your orders (it is self-service), and the dishes can be picked up on another one. Waiting times vary, but there's no one here in a hurry. It is always advisable to look for a seat first – and this is sometimes not so easy. We were lucky about 14:00 because just before us a couple got up and we immediately moved. You sit rustically on balcony furniture or wooden benches, usually with strangers at the table, but you get to know immediately. To the road there are high glass fronts, to the side a lot of floral green. A glass roof with awning protects against rain and sun. The offer is sympathetic and convincingly favorable. For 8.50 euros, you get a freshly fried fish fillet (e.g., velvet, salmon trout) with a supplement by choice. You can choose from: mixed salad (green leaf salad, tomato, maize, carrots in a light-seen dressing) homemade potato salad band noodles spinach noodles rice. The salad is also very popular “half and half” (mixed salad and potato salad). We were guest on two consecutive days and can only praise almost all variations! Finest, fresh merchandise, buttery tender, no visible trenches. However, was not saved with fat; what almost a subsequent snoop would have made necessary. The potato salad is spicy and ally and cloned after the best Swabian manner, almost like my mother. On the first day of our visit, fish were also offered in a panade of egg and cheese – sensational! Tastes light and fluffy. The size of fish pieces varies, here is nothing prefabricated. As a special feature, you can still award the local fish-lasagne (8,00 Euro) – with a really delicious, home-created sauce! For drinks you can choose between beer, soft drinks, water and naturally local wine from the Lake Constance region. At the end also had a cup of coffee (about 2.00 euros). The parking spaces (always an important question in this place) are located in the back of the farm, also the toilets are accommodated in an extra cottage. Most guests come on foot or by bike. Here you will find both single eaters, as well as couples of all ages, many families (even with children) and above all friends and groups of hikers. The service is extremely friendly and obviously stress-resistant. The prices are listed on a dispenser block and charged for cashing. Our desire for an extra invoice was followed immediately and without too much. Since I could not find any other guest rooms or interiors, I assume that this fish snack has only opened in the warmer months. Shame! On our departure after this weekend it stormed and rained – probably the early end of the season?"

Pizza, Es

"On this beautiful sunny and warm Sunday we first drove by bus to the pilgrimage church of Birnau, visited the church and enjoyed the view from the church square down to the lake. Then the next bus went to Unteruhldingen, where we both had no desire for the pile structures. Instead, we just walked through the area of the port and the beach bath, until the hunger came to pass. The gastronomic farms on the Seestraße had calculated the usual or even the increased land-sea supplements, and since we had only desire and hunger for a small thing, their pricing did not prevent us. The snack at the beach bath was therefore plentiful and we had no desire to wait for a snack there for half an hour. Finally, we found out that the ice cream café “Il Pavilions” also had pizza on offer. In the outdoor area there was a free table under a parasol, where the menu was already ready to handle on the table. In the map it was clearly pointed out that the vault was to be ordered, and when we made our decision, it was to Madame to enter and order. After a longer waiting period, she came out with the drinks, mineral water for her and a yeast white beer for me, and also with a small metal display with a number on it, which should later allow the service personnel to assign the food. We took the first swallow and then looked around. The tables filled quickly, the staff did not come behind with the serving of the ice cups, which is why many guests took the cups out themselves. After a waiting period where two or more pizzas had run through the oven somewhere, I went in and asked at the vault after the remaining of the dough cakes we ordered. “They are now in the oven,” I answered, “We bring them right away.” I went out to the table again, and now it took about five minutes until the pizzas were served. Both pizzas were almost 30 cm in diameter, had a crispy edge and a thin, but durable soil. They were already pre-cut to facilitate handling. Madame had the pizza with seafood, where the parts of the covering were not so large, so it seemed somewhat more uniform from the surface. I can't remember the Italian name of my pizza, she had ham, artichokes, mushrooms and a fried egg, which were beautifully distributed on the ground symmetrically. Hot were the pizzas, tasteful they were good and with 10.50 € each also priced in a pleasant setting. So after some time we left well saturated this place and continued our strolling for a while before we drove back to our holiday quarter by bus."

"I was at Hotel Knaus at the port of 08.09. until 11.09., some things can be praised and some complain – but the latter is clearly not in terms of service for which I want to break a lance. I can understand and understand the previous post. Perhaps some things are relative when the high-summer stress has dropped. The Knaus at the port is really beautiful at the port of Unteruhldingen, although this is a bit in the second row (in hotel brochures something is said to be “side sea view”). The house offers various room categories for overnight stay, a restaurant, a spacious outdoor terrace, as well as a Sky Bar, which is welcome to visit. Parking is available directly in front of and in a larger car park just behind the house – and parking is really worth gold here. However, as a home guest, who already has a lot of money here, you can also charge 6,00 euros per day. Not very fine, but that's on another sheet. Due to the great culinary offer of this place, I have unfortunately not eaten this time in the restaurant of the Hotel Knaus, but daily used the rich and very well-stocked breakfast buffet of the house. For the sake of interest, I have studied the menu of the restaurant extensively and would certainly have opted for one of the fish dishes or salad plates. The comfortably reachable and with high conifers very appealing green terrace is definitely well visited on sunny days; However, we had rainy weather almost throughout and could look from our balcony on a orphaned guest garden. The furniture no longer seemed completely deaf and already a bit torn off (as well as other parts of the interior – the house has just arrived a bit in the years, but you are very interested in refreshing and updating). The breakfast buffet was first-class, very fresh and versatile, constantly updated. I can only report good about fresh fruit salad with apples, oranges, nectarines and grapes (not really from the can, like elsewhere), the large range of cereals, the tender and ally agitation (usually totally dry on other buffets), the delicious, albeit some salty smoked salmon, the hearty cheese offering, the fine baked eggs. Coffee specialities can be pinned on the full machine: cappuccino, cafe cream, latte macchiato, espresso etc. There are also filter coffees and a large tea selection. Very great and practical: both small cups and large handle glasses, which can be used depending on the Gusto or intended use. There are also two kinds of glasses for the fresh juices. The dishes are unprecedented and well maintained. I have rarely experienced such attentive and reluctant operating service. There were always 2-3 young service ladies in the background, on request intervened and constantly reloaded the buffet from 7 am to 10 pm. They agreed to each other quietly but efficiently. As soon as one of the table mufflers appeared full, he was immediately emptied. The tablecloths were cleaned in between and made fresh again, the chairs were backed up. And that with the silent, inconspicuous manners of little ones. Also in other areas the house acted very customer-oriented, fast and with great friendliness. The toilets are very well maintained. Here everything finally works without any problems: soap dispensers, towel dispensers, fittings, toilet paper dispensers (which already throws out the paper in portions). There is a “virtual concierge”, a screen with touchscreen and internet access. Additional information such as excursion tips can also be obtained here. All in all, there is a great deal of effort and commitment here, but as a home guest I also had the feeling of being secretly zoomed and having to finance the entire walking area with additional costs. But this is also more off-topic and should find its precipitation in another portal. My vague recommendation would almost be: at Hotel Knaus, dine at the harbour, but stay somewhere else? I am curious what other guests will report!"
