We stopped a day in Cassel (which is very nice BTW) and on our wanderings round the town we just wanted a bar to have a quick beer and plan the next move. This place fit the bill perfectly. It's a PMU which I understand is a betting shop, it's got a nice terrace out the front, the food was limited (as far as I could make out) to (nice looking) baguette type sandwiches and it had (for a French bar) a perfectly reasonable beer menu, making a point of local beer and with about 6 on tap. Lovely spot for a sit down in the sunshine so I can't really comment on the interior. Service was nice and prompt too... We went back the next morning for a coffee before leaving Cassel, nice as well.

We tend to arrive in Cassel on route to our ferry at Zeebrugge at about the time we are ready for a coffee stop. Over the years we have tried one or two other spots in the town, but this is where we have found the coffee most suits our taste. Always plenty of 'locals' there, which is usually a good sign. Friendly staff adds to the visit. There is food available according to the board on the wall, with a number of dishes which appear to be at a most reasonable cost, but at the times we are there, no-one is eating as it is too soon. There is a good deal of outdoor seating, so wheelchairs can be accommodated it the weather is O.K. but the entrance is via a couple of steps.

Stopped in Cassel and ended up parking on Place van Damme meaning a walk over the "mont" to the town.We had our dog with us and were happy to sit on the terrace. However, the weather had other ideas and we went inside. Dogs accepted. We settled on a coffee and a Croque Monsieur.Very friendly place.

Spent a very pleasant hour or so sitting on the terrace of this town centre café sampling the local beers and watching the world go bye. Good service and the waitress recommended a couple of good local beers .
