We caught the staff off guard when we arrived, and they asked how we found the cafe. Several menu items caught my eye. I initially came for the Vegan Teriyaki Chick'n with Butler’s soy curls and shredded vegetables, but when I saw the roast miso sake sablefish on rice, I couldn't resist ordering that instead. I was delighted it came with multigrain rice, which reminded me of my favorite Sekihan—Japanese red bean rice. I can’t recall any Japanese restaurants in Vancouver offering such delicious rice, and it’s refreshing not to have rice served with vinegar and sugar. Aiyaohno Cafe was an amazing experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. I especially loved the strawberry matcha – absolutely outstanding and something I’ll definitely be back for. Overall, a fantastic place with great vibes, warm service, and delicious food.
