I went to Almalfiâs for the first time in many years as a Bloomingdale resident. I was pleasantly surprised, I was truly looking for a romantic date night (which I got, just not the way I expected) at a local restaurant: I was expecting something dimly lit, over the top aesthetics etc. â your stereotypical fancy night out. What I got was a perfect neighborhood restaurant that was absolutely better than than stereotypical. Our waitress was polite, helpful and timely, the food was amazingâ no really, it was phenomenal. Nothing was served on fancy plates, the silverware was boring, the ambiance was more Greek restaurant than upscale Italian, and the wine list was tiny... and yet I was imp...
I realize it was Motherâs Day and they were busy but the waitress certainly could have been more Friendly. Food service took for ever and we actually went minutes without seeing our waitress, mind you this isnât a huge place. Maybe sears people. We saw the other waitress many times but never saw ours. Refills were hard to come by and at minimum I would have expected a comment from the waitress that she was sorry for the delay and slow service. That didnât happen. We were a party of with kids so of course it will be hectic. Very difficult to keep little ones busy for such a long time. We've been coming to Amalfi's for more years than I can count. Nothing beats their sausage and meatballs. It seems that the restaurant, as a whole, is not staying on par, however. The bldg/parking lot is looking a bit run down and it just seemed old this time around. I like the open, airy-ness with all the windows but it just seems dated. We actually asked to move tables becuz the tablecloth on our table had pasta sauce all down the side, there was a noodle on our chair and a spoon I had to kick out of the way to sit down All in all, not as good of an experience that we've had in years gone by. I hope they read this and take it up a notch
This neighborhood gem is fit for a family get together, date night, a girls night out or just a taste for a great Italian dinner. Everything on the menu is outstanding, especially since the entrees come with fresh bread and soup or salad. Very reasonable too! I had both of my daughters wedding showers there and all guests loved it. Ask Frank about specifics if youâd like to have your shower there too!

Restaurant cancelled my reservation minutes before we supposed to be there Drove miles when call was received. I will never go to amalfi's again nor will I ever use open table again. Management could care less about patrons .
The service was terrible. The food was bland although the portions were huge. All in our party agreed that the only good food was the desserts. We will never return, and cannot recommend this restaurant.
Took hrs minutes for appetizer and entree. No dessert Service kitchen was horrible. Long time customer but may not go back. Same thing to tables around us. Many people upset.
On the whole, the experience wasn't too bad. The food as usual was very good, however the service was a little slow the night we dined there.
