Sooooo...I was recently discussing Ariake with some friends and while we all agree that Ariake is a quality sushi Japanese cuisine spot, they disagree on the overall rating. Their opinion was on the 3 star scale, while I deem it worthy of an overall 4 star rating. And surprisingly, one of their points of contention (if you will) is that Ariake is not an authentic Japanese restaurant. You know, James...this place is Korean owned, so how good can it be? My partner and I were in the mood for sushi and decided to try out a new place, Ariake, which had good reviews. Located in a small strip mall in Fairfax, Ariake is conveniently situated near popular areas in the city. We were promptly seated as a party of two on a Monday evening around 6 PM. The dining room is spacious with two sushi bar areas where we could watch the chefs at work. I was surprised by the limited sushi roll options on the menu, which mostly featured traditional appetizers, hot entrees, sashimi, and sushi. Found the lunch special prices for sushi or sashimi the most expensive in the area. 2 pieces of fatty tuna $19.00. 2 pieces of yellow tail $10.00. All on the lunch special menu were incredibly expensive. The presentation was nice however the Sashimi Special included 4 fish selections that were cut in tiny bite sizes. As a Japanese restaurant they didn 't follow the traditional Japanese method of cutting the pieces in the proper size. The quality of the fish was very good however, but for over $20 I left hungry. Nothing special about this lunch!

Great spot to pop in for a comfortable dinner with the whole family after a day. Location is perfect. Lot of parking. Honestly I don't remember how many times I had Omakase in Ariake Fairfax. I think more than 7 times. Quality was excellent and service top-notch. And they have a good selection of sake to pair with the food as well. We've been wanting to try this place out for some time! The food and service were great. The fish was very fresh and cleaned very well. My only little issue was I wish they had more raw fish speciality rolls on the menu- many of them were cooked or deep fried rolls. I really liked they had a cute little silicon fish plate for the little kids which my toddler really liked. The restaurant is very spacious and clean.

The Japanese food at this restaurant in Annandale is exceptional and conveniently located close to home. The service is friendly and the prices are great. This restaurant has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, taking the place of a Pizza Hut. Despite the steady flow of customers, the atmosphere is not noisy, making it easy to have a conversation. I highly recommend this place!

This sushi restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a welcoming ambiance and friendly staff. The sushi itself was a masterpiece, fresh and beautifully presented. The menu offered a delightful variety of rolls sashimi, and omakase. One of the best sushi restaurants in Nova.

Food is excellent and one of our favorite places for sushi in the dmv. They use high quality ingredients and the food is consistently good. Service is great also , and you always feel welcomed.

This restaurant in the Fairfax area has some of the best ramen around! The rich flavor is so delicious and addictive. The service, atmosphere, and overall experience are all fantastic.
