"I usually try to see if the chef speaks Japanese. As it was in the good food guide I did not check. When I saw the sashimi arrive I realised it was not a real Japanese restaurant as the pieces were very thick and not cut like in an authentic Japanese restaurant"

It has been a little while since we last visited Asakusa & note an ownership change has occurred. This was a Birthday celebration & we were a party of 2. Not very busy this mid week evening but sadly an extremely loud table of 6 ladies made sure they were heard. But we were here for the food which as on previous occasions is again excellent. Started with the salmon skin rolls always tasty followed by the soft shell crab but the standout was the black cod absolutely delicious. At $38 a serve you receive 3 portions of fish with every bit just full of flavour. BYO helps to make the evening special. Service was good & courteous. This is really a gem of a neighbourhood restaurant & remains one of...

A party of 4. 1st time visit. We ordered the large sashimi $39 I have never had such a small serve anywhere in Melbourne. Ridiculous portion. We had to ask the waitress to bring the sauce otherwise it would have been a dry dish. Entrees were nice but the Wagyu beef main was an awful presentation for a Japanese restaurant. 5 lumps of thick large slices of beef on a bed of vegetables. Very unattractive and far too large to be used with chopsticks. Service very poor. Dishes were put on the table without any explanation of what they were. We had to ask. Busy restaurant . For $90 per couple I will go elsewhere. Pick up your act and be attentive to customers who are paying top dollar for poor serv...

Good solid four star Japanese. This is a favourite restaurant of my good friends who love their Japanese and good food generally. Nice restaurant. Very good dishes. All of them. Every dish we had tonight was great - see photos. Service, particularly from the lovely Zoe, was efficient and friendly. We had a great night. Been here twice. I'd love to come here again.
