au chapeau rouge came highly recommended, the menus on the website looked good and the prices were reasonable so that we booked for a table for two to dinner during our stay in the opposite. the restaurant is located near the Rathaus and has a parking space close to it. The waitress, who welcomed us friendly and efficient and worked very hard all night to cheer all the tables, including a particularly complicated customer, who wanted to have a lot of attention. as bib gourmand they have a selection of fixed price menus from entree, haupt, dessert and optional cheese course. we were for the four courses. our entrées of rind carpaccio and marinaded muscheln were beautiful, well presented and q...

We turned up at 1230 without a booking and they kindly accepted us. Sat outside not realising the inside was already rammed with locals. Service was kind but a bit slow. The norm these days in France. Understaffed as usual. Food, was good in parts....My tomato starter excellent, duck main course soso. No pudding. Ordinary wine list. This is a lovely town with many restaurants. I would try elsewhere before revisiting here.

Super ratio quality price. Restaurant that is worth the detour, especially when it is beautiful and can be eaten on the terrace. We went there with the children who were entitled to a quality child menu, full of discoveries. Very suitable for children provided they know how to stay quietly at the table because it remains a real restaurant and not a playground. We were delighted with the experience with our children.

We had stayed in Chinon for a week and was recommended this restaurant from our gite owner. We were not disappointed. The entree wonderful. The duck for main was brought out under silver service and presentation and flavour was perfect. The deserts were magnificent and...highly recommend this for a special night out. Beautiful setting for their EU35 Four Course Luncheon which was all delicious. Tom who was the main guy on the floor is a perfectionist- very nice gentleman indeed. I loved the whole experience and would not hesitate to recommend

Restaurant discovery Sunday. Very good food. The Norwegian omelet is a treat! Friendly welcome and very professional service. Small terrace overlooking a square. Interior decorated with taste. I recommend this restaurant
