Florent's food is fantastic: it is proud of its origins; uses products from its Region and gives you something original, tasty, creative yet simple and highly enjoyable. I have been going to this hotel and restaurant for about 20 years or more. The rooms are good value and the restaurant authentic for the local cuisine. Mine host is very welcoming. It is 30 miles from Calais but in the heart of the...flanders countryside. Driving from London, you can be there in four hours. The one thing it has though, and to me is unique for a location that is probably not 100 feet above sea level is that if you are up early enough and the sky is clear you can see the sunrise and later in the evening the sunset from the same place without going more than a few yards. We visited this Auberge in July 2012. Whilst the evening meal was good and the service attentive the bedroom and breakfast left a lot to be desired. Bed linen & blanket were stained, but there was worse to come. The breakfast consisted of a few small slices of stale bread warmed to freshen it up, some home made undescribable jam, a glass of orange and a cup of coffee with COLD milk, none of the usual fare now provided by French hotels. On reflection we should have refused to pay the charge of 16e for the breakfast and on our return home wrote to the owner with our views but did not receive any response.
the location and restaurant are really nice with a lot of space between the tables to guarantee their private sphere. the combinations of the foods were very experimental, but do not provide really interesting taste. fries with cheese mayonnaise as main dish was a cannon for a...1 stars michelin restaurant. we didn't like any of the paired drinks. some of the animals were almost unimaginable. summarizing an experience to forget quickly.
The setting and restaurant are really nice with plenty of space between the tables to guarantee your privacy. The food combinations were very experimental, but failed to delivery any really interesting tastes. Fries with some cheese mayonnaise as main dish was a disgrace for a...1 star Michelin restaurant. We did not like any of the paired drinks. Some of the beers were almost undrinkable. In summary an experience to quickly forget.
The restaurant looks trendy and has an eclectic interior style, slightly unexpected in this rural setting. The food was very nice, one could immediately tell they source their ingredients locally. Sometimes there was not enough protein with the veg for my taste, and I didn't like any of the paired drinks, but overall this was very interesting.
Auberge du Vert Mont has one Michelin star. But you can eat a brilliant dinner for about 40€. With wines/beers 60€. We got served about 5 dishes, all made from local produce, that were delicious, surprising, delicate and well balanced. The interior is spacious and...the staff is friendly. No snobbery here. Absolutely recommended!
