Babita is located in a somewhat inconspicuous corner on San Gabriel Blvd. While I couldn’t find any dedicated parking lots, we easily found plenty of street parking nearby. The restaurant itself is quite small, seating approximately 20 people. Upon arriving at our reservation time, we waited a long time at the door before deciding to venture inside to locate a waitress or hostess. This isn’t your typical taco truck Mexican fare. I visited this restaurant last night with my family, and I noticed that only two tables were occupied, with about six others available. Despite this, we were informed that they couldn't accommodate walk-ins. I had encountered the same situation three weeks earlier when I tried to visit. Looking around, it seemed that the only diners on both occasions were Caucasian, which made me feel unwelcome as we were essentially ushered toward the exit. To further confirm my feelings, a friend of mine came in with his Caucasian wife shortly after we left, and they were promptly seated. Renowned Chef Roberto and his family have crafted one of the most extraordinary dining experiences in Los Angeles. Chef Roberto was a trailblazer in Family-focused Mexican fine dining in the city. It deeply saddens me to learn that Babita will be closing its doors soon, as it's time for Chef Roberto to retire. If you haven't had the chance to visit this LA icon, now is the time to do so! You won't regret it!

I've made multiple attempts to eat here just to be turned down every time for some odd reason. Staff claim to be busy. However, every time I've been there there's multiple tables available. With only 1-2 tables being occupied MAX! They can't claim it's Covid restrictions because that's all done and over with. I'll take my business elsewhere! Reserva una mesa ahora

Great food and service! The staff is very friendly and Chef Roberto is creative with presentation and food combinations. Love their sangria! The best I have ever had! It's a small cozy place to eat plus chips and salsa for the table!
