Tschentenalp is a beautiful and overlooked little ski and tobogganing area. Apart from the ski runs, it has some fun snow shoeing in the right conditions and is the start of two very scenic walks well away from chairlifts. The bergrestaurant has great views and is excellent if you just have a drinks break but don't repeat don't eat here. The service is glacially slow. We were ignored by staff at lunchtime except when a waitress came over to tell us to close a window. When we finally had our order taken, it took nearly an hour for the snacks to arrive and, even then, two peoples meals did not materialise. When this was questioned the chef was insolent. A change of management is desparately needed. Get the lift down and eat at Cafe Haueter cheaper, quicker, better.
A day trip to Adelboden lead to taking the gondola to the TschentenAlp. Time for a cold drink and deciding if we should have lunch here or later wane we hiked back to Adelboden. We were sitting on the terrace, enjoying the picture perfect view in hot sunny the table next to us were served their meals. The presentation was outstanding, and our decision was made; we ordered our lunch there. Whilst a pulled pork burger or alpine sushi are certainly not traditional Swiss dishes, but the friendly hospitality and quality of the food are. Traditionalist may will recall the 'good old times ', but anyone with an open mind to food fusion and a fresh presentation will be rewarded with the quality of the dishes.
This mountain restaurant has fantastic views! Very good place for lunch and coffee. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. The quality of food is very good. The place is beautifully decorated and has a cozy feeling. If it is sunny, the terrace is also beautiful.
