But we had a very special occasion to celebrate so we wanted a special dinner somewhere we would feel very safe and comfortable. Bonfire was our number choice. We have been frequenting this restaurant for several years and have generally been pleased overall with both the meal and the service. Our last visit, a Thursday evening, left us with the feeling that we would not be anxious to return. I had a pasta...special in which the pasta was sticky and the meal lacked flavour. I suspect the chef forgot to salt the water in which the pasta was cooked. The fish in the dish my wife selected was overcooked. Her dish was also an evening special. Another member of our group also commented on the stickiness of the pasta. On top of the meal quality the main course took over half an hour to reach our table in a room that had empty tables. Service and quality of food is always top notch at Bonfire. Getting to know the staff here we feel very comfortable dining here and especially now that proof of vaccination is required. I do miss the grilled Irish soda bread they used to serve. The...sour dough was okay but not as good. Salad was crisp and fresh and big enough for two to share. The Manitoba chicken on their regular menu is spectacular both in presentation and flavours (fig and goat cheese). I am not a potato fan but there was no problem getting it served with rice. Fresh veggies were excellent. Pasta specials are always interesting and tonight’s was hot and spicy…..chorizo, red pepper, chicken, scallions, black sesame seeds...
Ordered for take out due to covid. So important to support the restaurants at this time. We so enjoyed our dinner! The kale and mixed green salad with feta, butternut squash, mint and apple, pickled onions.......it was amazing. Bonfire Pizza is the best if you...like a thin crust. My favourite is the prosciutto and pear, with fig, balsamic and blue cheese. Fabulous flavours! The Mediterranean vegetable pizza was also excellent. We were so happy to enjoy a meal from one of our favourite restaurants. And the bonus was Ann Lynne brought out our take home package! Plus all containers used were recyclable!

I went into Bonfire as a person who has served for years and gives the benefit of the doubt to other waitresses when I see they are busy. Bonfire bistro destroyed that. The server was indifferent and terrible, she couldn’t be bothered to even slightly...ask any questions if anything was good, completely forgot my husbands dessert and didn’t even bother to follow up and ask if everything is okay. I will never return to Bonfire Bistro and I don’t recommend it to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable night out.
As always the food is exceptional. During this period of Covid the restaurant is doing as good as they can to establish a warm, clean environment with outstanding food.

Food was amazing! Hot fresh and so tasty! Staff were friendly and served us perfectly! Amazing restaurant this is our second time and we will be going back!
