This oxymoron of a restuarant leaves me feeling a little ambivalent about this casual eatery. This was my first time and this place and judging by its patronage (being predominately Asian) I thought I was in for a good chance in the tasting stake, but unfortunately, that wasn't really the case. I have heard so much about this supposed 'best chinese' but some how for me, quite the contrary. This casual dining house has very basic decor, the service as well, but prompt nevertheless. What we ordered was: prawn toast, kang kung, crispy chicken, and salt and pepper squid. The serving size was quite generous and what we ordered was more than enough. Enough to take some home and have for lunch...

Botoli had been around for over 20 years run by the same owner, how did the Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant with "Italian" name maintains the status as one of the most popular restaurant in Burwood when it still baffles new patrons wondering about the authenticity! The open secret is that it provides consistently good quality lunch and dinners with good service at a reasonable price. You can make it "your" daily or weekly kitchen for your family or friends. It is not a fine dining restaurant with expensive "trimmings" it is basic but good, it serves the basic need of most people who needs a good meal without breaking the bank.It has a big advantage of a large "function" room upstairs which can c...

Ah Botoli – the Chinese restaurant with an Italian name! What it lacks in street appeal and interior décor, it makes up for in great food. The menu is enormous! I have to admit, I never order there. Instead my Chinese mother and father in law order all the food. I think I’d be too overwhelmed and confused by the menu. But when the food arrives, it’s really good! I always leave feeling totally stuffed, and we usually get a doggy bag too. If you’re in it for good Chinese food (not for décor or atmosphere), and you’re confident with the big menu, I think you’ll like this place.

ProsFull of locals - and very high turn-over. People obviously had their favourite dishes - mostly soups or dishes in bowls it seemed. We were the only non-Chinese there at Sunday lunch - which usually bodes well.Chef specials were good.CheapFast, attentive staff.ConsDo not go except a restaurant - this is plastic tables and fast service.Huge menu - but they would be better to stick to the specials as some items we had were very ordinary, especially the seafood e.g. frozen fish cakes. Brought a couple of my friends here and they like this humble little place. Of the dishes I've tried so far, I like their crab vermicelli hot pot, soft shell crab and camp fire beef. A few of their pork ribs dishes and lemongrass boneless chicken was quite delicious too. Found shandong chicken and pork belly with preserved vegie there too salty. Oh the stuffed tofu xo vermicelli hot pot and a mushroom dish (can't remember the name) were pretty decent too.

Had dinner there with a group of friends. Like all Chinese restaurants, a big group is needed to be able to sample a bigger range of dishes. Campfire beef is full of flavours. Tofu in a hot pot with vermecilli. Best I have had. Chinese vegetables are done simply and flavours are so good. Crispy Chicken with mushrooms with soy sauce. Not a single dish that was not up to par. BYO. Décor is simple but the culinary experience great

Great family run Chinese/Vietnamese food with good service. Have visited here numerous times over the years for many lunches and dinners. Would recommend the following: - deep fried salt and pepper flounder - dry Cambodian noodles - shandong chicken - Ginger & shallots with crab - stir fried chicken noodles (using udon noodles) - Vietnamese sour soup - deep fried prawns with salted egg yolk

Went there recently, food was mediocre, service was 'minimal', food was passable, price was average had the laksa/ chow mein and the rice noodle pho, came in with great expectations came out with a full stomach but to give this place 5 stars, maybe I am missing something? Reserva una mesa ahora

We eat here all the time! The food is absolutely delicious. Especially the braised beef or pork in the nine dragon sauce. What it lacks in decor, it makes up for in the food. Affordable and good value as well. We have been eating here for years and we love it.
