A real find! A comfortable and really friendly country inn with cosy rooms, a drying room (ideal for walkers), and an extensive bar and dining area looking out onto attractive gardens and with a roaring open fire. The food’s excellent and very good value, with lots of choice on the menu including at least half a dozen tasty vegetarian options and a couple of unusual ones (eg a large mushroom dhal). Good choice of real ales too. And it’s great to stay somewhere where’s a family playing scrabble st one table, two couples playing darts round the corner, two grey-haired guitarists tuning up one evening, and lots of couples focussed intently on each other. This pub with food was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying in a short drive away and we were not disappointed. In fact we enjoyed our meal so much we went back the following night too! Large selection to choose from which is served freshly cooked and piping hot. Portions are large so make sure you are hungry. Everything we had we thoroughly enjoyed, in particular the fish and chips, bellied pork, chicken, ham and leek pie and the beef burger. Prices very reasonable and all staff were lovely.

5* food two hungry walkers and this pub was perfect. Food was hot, fresh and quickly presented and the portions were very generous. The roast dinner went down a treat and the homemade hips on the other meal were some of the best we'd had. The outdoor space is lovely and peaceful and there's shelter for a wet day.

Booked as knew it was popular and so glad we did. It was great from start to finish. Reasonable prices, quality food, professional service. Overall nothing to moan about. What a super Pub. Polly and I ate here for five nights in a row. Really great food, varied menu and good value. Well kept beer. Lovely atmosphere, with friendly locals and bar staff. Thanks to John, Hannah, Holly and not forgetting the Chef! We will be back. James and Polly.

top quality we absolutely loved and enjoyed our visit. we had some appetizers which were delicious, lovely athmosphere, super friendly staff, dog welcome, great drinks, what is not to like? we will be recommending and hope to be back in the near future

1st visit. Large pub and restaurant. A good mix of locals and walkers. Staff very helpful. Good choice of food all served quickly, nicely presented, and very good sized portion without being too large. Would happily visit again when in the area

Fantastic menu and food served was wonderful, outside sitting area had great views and all though children were playing it was still very peaceful atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful, service excellent
