Previously I have enthused about this brasserie but sadly the business failed. New management was put in place so we thought it was time to go back again. How I wished we hadn't.Arriving at 14:10 on a Sunday we were firmly told that there was no possible we could be provided with food. A cup of coffee they could manage but the waitress insisted there was no bread, no cheese, nothing in the restaurant which could be used to make even a simple sandwich.These are not easy times, especially for the catering industry and even more so if you are not exactly in a busy area. With the new owners this place is now called the "Brasserie de l'Aeroport" at the airfield,which is nice,quiet airport with little traffic,but well equipped and... very acceptable landing fees:around 10 euros for a light aircraft(and cheaper avgas!)The restaurant is just what you would like during your stop: good food:daily menu at 14,90 euros=starter,main course and dessert(3 choices each).If you want it lighter then fresh sanwiches are also available.Went there during 3 visits now and was never disappointed(on the contrary!)I will definitely continue returning there.
We were rather astonished to turn up at 2 o'clock and be told that there was no food - not even a sandwich or a croque was available. The hours posted on the door clearly stated that the place was open until 4pm - but I guess only drinks available. Three other aviators told us that they had been waiting for service for around an hour with other folk getting food and orders taken, only to be told at 2pm that there was no longer any food being served.Most disappointing.
I simply don't understand the relatively poor reviews. I come here very often and the food is excellent and the service good. Admittedly, there is no ambience, but that really doesn't bother me.It was closed today when I went to Calais Airport and I heard two stories, that it was closed for vacances and that it is closed permanently.I do hope that it's the former and not the latter!

The menu is not the biggest but what is important is that what they do, they do well. Don't go expecting luxury surroundings or an extensive wine list - that is not what Brasserie des Aviateurs is about but I have eaten there several times and never been disappointed. A warm welcome, good food and very reasonable prices make this a firm favourite for and many of my friends.
I've only been to brunch at Aberdeen so far but the thing I love about it is the serviceTheir servers are super attentive and nice.
The food was amazing! Came into town from Cleveland and Took some customers to the Tavern and everyone loved their meal.
