We had a larger party of nine this past weekend and were seated promptly upon our arrival. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The server seemed annoyed that we were a bigger group and even requested two separate checks before we placed our order. We started with an appetizer of the trio of cheese curds, mozzarella sticks, and mac and cheese bites. To our disappointment, the mac and cheese bites were still frozen in the middle. When I pointed this out to the server, her only response was, "Yeah, because they take so long to cook." She brought them back out, but we didn’t eat them since they were just terrible. The pizza was decent, but as someone who isn’t a fan of deep-dish...
After reading various reviews, it seems this restaurant has some divisive opinions. People either love the pizza and its charred crust, or they don’t. After my visit, I can definitely see why. It just wasn’t to my taste, which is fine. I also felt let down by the service. We went on a Friday evening when it was fairly busy, yet it took 20 minutes for the waitress to notice us after we sat down. Overall, it wasn’t a great experience, but I might consider giving it another chance. If I do, I’ll definitely try the half-dough option.
I've always been a fan of Pequod’s pizza; there's nothing quite like it. It was my favorite spot in Chicago. However, I think Burt’s is just as fantastic! They pile on the pepperonis, the crust is wonderfully crisp, and there's plenty of flavorful sauce. It feels like a blend of Detroit-style pizza and Chicago deep dish—it's thicker with the crispy crust reminiscent of Detroit style, yet round like a Chicago pie. I now have two favorite pizza places in Chicago! Service: Takeout.
The staff, the food—everything was absolutely fantastic! I can't believe I've lived nearby for years and only just now decided to visit after moving away. It was definitely worth the drive, as the flavors were incredible. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5. Highly recommend!

This pizza was incredible, and I might even go so far as to say it's better than Pequod's. The waitress suggested the giardiniera and sausage, which was absolutely delicious. The patio is charming, and there's a cozy indoor dining space as well.
