Popped in as I work locally for a quick lunch takeaway. It was not quick ages before I could place my order, ordered just chips as there was a wait for fish etc, which is fair enough, nice and fresh. Main concern for me was...that the guy plating the meals was using his hand instead of tongs for plating the fish. Overall the impression was that the waitress' didn't have a clue what was going on, who had been served etc., the restaurant wasn't full so doesn't bode well for busier times.
I had another amazing fish and chips dinner that was freshly cooked. The service was excellent and the staff were always friendly. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. The presentation of the food was always top-notch. I also enjoyed the new addition of quiet background music, which created a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant caters to those with gluten intolerance, such as myself, which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this place.
Visiting Bury. I had picked up good reports on Bury Fish and Chips. A chance to have Gluten Free Fish and Chips I couldn’t miss. Good service, they were wrapped up well to keep them warm as I returned to the cottage and tested lovely....If only I could get GF Fish and Chips where I live. TripAdvisor have asked questions based on this being a restaurant under COVID they are operating as a take away but with an area you can eat your takeaway I didn’t opt to use that,
Nice staff, clean, great value BUT terrible food. What has gone wrong with this place. Everybody I know told me how how down this place has gone from being the best in Bury St Edmunds a couple of years ago. The Cod was just mush...and luke warm and the mushy peas were in the small container possible and were cold .. that’s it for me, will never be back and when the current owners wake up and say “what’s happened to my business”, read these reviews .. Ordered 2 large chips. The older grey haired guy taking orders was quite abrupt when taking my order and with other customers. He was also very snappy at the other people working there. I waited 20 min for my order. The chips are served in...cardboard containers and it was a small portion at best for £3.30. Considering they were cooked fresh they didn’t stay hot for very long. Won’t be going back there again.
My 8-year-old friend treated me to a delicious meal at this restaurant. The fish was amazing and the chips were perfectly crispy with no hint of grease. What we loved most was the friendly staff. We will definitely be returning. They offer dine-in or takeaway options, and we decided to dine in. They also serve excellent tea and coffee!
I visited 26/4 Supper and had an amazing meal of delicious cod fillet and chips, along with tasty mushy peas and a tangy curry sauce. The staff were friendly and the dining area was clean and well-organized, located next to the takeaway counter. This was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time.

Prompt service and first class chips. Chips were freshly cooked, golden brown, crunchy and light. I could not ask for more.
