I was thoroughly spoiled with a belated birthday dinner at my favourite eating place, Cafe Lune, (Jetty Road, Brighton, Adelaide). The attentive waitresses, Tara and Celeste, settled us down at a table just the perfect distance from the fire, then brought out an appetiser of pickled Tommy ruff. I was told the French name for appetiser, but I can't remember it !Everything looked tempting on the Winter menu and I was interested to see sections for 'small' and 'large' plates. I hate being faced with way too much for my appetite. In the 'large plate' section, I noticed Coorong Angus Rump Steak and Pork Belly amongst other dishes, so I'm sure that even those with a hearty appetite would be satisf...
Service was wonderful. Loved sitting outside in the sun and watching the people walk by. A good amount of gluten-free options for breakfast but I did notice not too many options for lunch/dinner which I hope will change in the near future. I had the haloumi and avocado with charred corn, poached egg, and potato rosti. I did find 2 slices of haloumi too much but the rest of the meal was delicious and my egg was poached as requested. My husband had the big breakfast and it looked amazing. He commented on how good it was, and also appreciated there being just 1 slice of bread (often in some other places you get 2-4 slices which is extremely excessive and unnecessary). Called into the new cafe lune on jetty road for a snack thursday evening. On the advise of the friendly waitress, i tried the "blackboard special" tapas style pork and fennel sausage dish and the brussel sprouts side with bacon and caramelized onion. As someone who hated brussel sprouts as a kid, i can certainly say the chefs at cafe lune have changed my mind! Sausage was also delicious- i felt it was all fantastic value. With a glass of the grenach (cant remember the name- i really wish i could!) to accompany dinner, it couldnt of been a better 1st visit. Next time im in adelaide I'll certainly come back for a big meal so i can try more off the menu!
Chanced upon the wonderful Café Lune whilst on an infrequent visit across town at Brighton. Greeted by two of the most friendly and cheerful front-of-house staff we could ever wish to meet. Shown to a comfortable, bright and relaxed dining area which was kept nice and warm on a winter's day by a flickering gas fire. An interesting and varied menu, with plenty of options to cater for most tastes. My wife chose the blue cheese & pumpkin risotto with chilli & kale, whilst I chose the very tasty gnocchi with mushrooms. We followed our lunch with an excellent cappuccino each. Easily accessed on popular Jetty Road at Brighton, this lovely place stood out in a street where eateries abound.Food was fresh, well presented, reasonably priced and a little bit different. Staff were attentive and discrete, and the ambience of the restaurant was welcoming, warm and bright. Option to dine inside or out, and even on a cold day it was well protected and pleasant at the outdoor tables.Attention to detail with the decor, down to the fresh flowers on the tables made the visit very pleasurable. The fireplace inside was an extra delight and there were views of the beach, so this ticked all the boxes for us.
How does the song go, I've been to cities that never close down.Eaten in more cafes and restaurants around Europe than I care to write down. Enjoyed food that was good, food that was great and at venues that made the old Visa Card shake.What a delight to find a local restaurant that is as good as the best, if not better, than the restaurants I've enjoyed in Europe.And it won't hurt your Visa Card.Gastr'homme.
We had a family dinner at Cafe Lune and it was a perfect. The food was tasty and interesting, the staff were very professional and the wine list extensive. Our children chose off the kids menu and had a delicious mini steak, chips and salad and the other was battered whiting, chips and salad.We are so happy this restaurant has opened in our local area and we will be regulars.
