Service at this place is so incredibly uneven. In one order, which was the two enchiladas with the sweet pork barbacoa, the side of rice was crunchy it was way undercooked. Our to go order was also nearly cold when we got it home after a less than five minute drive and picking up right when the app suggested. In another order, we requested the rice and beans, but no rice and beans (see pics). During previous visits we've complained to management in the hope that this place would make some changes and do a better job manager seemed put out and uninterested in our feedback, and clearly made no changes.
Decided to try something new, always pass Cafe Rio sad to say service here was anything but efficient. By the time we got our tostadas they were soggy. We were standing right in front of the service line waiting for toppings and somehow got skipped for the people behind us? Confused Sad to say I did enjoy the quality of the food a mix between Chipotle and Anitas. But be prepared for slop in a plate presentation but ok flavors. Wanted to try their made fresh daily dessert but line wouldn't break cause they were always behind.
Love this place! Our favorite Mexican fast service restaurant! I had the 2 Enchiladas (One Shredded Chicken the other Sweet Pork) and those two meats are my personal favorites. We really miss our Newport News location whenever we are in the area we always stop in on our way home for dinner. The Salad is awesome too. And the Nachos are great as well.Definitely try this place. We like it better than Chipotle. (And we like Chipotle too) but Cafe Rio is 10x better.

Cafe Rio is one of my favorite places to eat, I really like the tacos, but what keeps that of five stars, is that sometimes when I order online for two double taco meals, I just have a double taco meal. I usually have to mention the mistake when I pick it up. Other than that, everything else is excellent. My only advice is to make sure that double online orders are placed on the web site for collection to ensure that they are correct.
I wasn?t going to leave a review but every single thing just added up. From time I was placing my order (person taking my order walked away. Guy behind me put in 2 orders and I was still standing there . During the order they used the same utensils to handle pork and my beef. Towards the checkout they charged me for hot sauce only to give me some type of marinara sauce. I poured it on and wasn?t able to eat it. My last time there.
Delicious Tex-Mex made to your satisfaction. Sadly, our extradition order sat on the table for a while near the prep area. We wondered if it was ours. In other cases, the orders were placed in the pull-out rack. We haven't seen our name. Someone looked at the bag, then in the bag, then looked at us after twenty minutes and said it was ours. Delicious food was cool for our mouth. The worst run Cafe Rio I've been there before.
Wish I could give negative stars. Got basically last minute leftovers. None of the fixings. So sad. UBER refunded, but I will not order delivery from this place again. Not the first time this happens on an UBer close to closing order. Terrible!

Food was really good; full of flavor and not small portions. Bought two extra plates to take home to my kids. Had the salad with Baracoa and chicken. So so juicy. How can salad be this good? Will stop by there next time we are in the area.
Their barbacoa pork salad bowl is a winner. I think their fresh tortillas have gotten less fresh and thinner, more like other places and less amazing than usual. Maybe it was just today?
