Been here lots before always ok . However today , 11.30 am was empty. Asked for scrambled eggs on toast , 1 other had the same and 1 the American breakfast . Both eggs came with salmon , not ordered! Waitress seemed very put out that we didn't want it, hate anything fish , took them both back , obviously just took off salmon and brought them back . I don't know if it's the chef's fault, or the management deciding portion sizes, but the miniscule size of the vegan lasagne my partner was served last night was a disgrace, it was beyond belief. We are returning customers from a couple of years ago, and we really enjoyed it last time (mushroom risotto, was fantastic, shame to take it from the menu). Absolutely shocking from this once fantastic restaurant. Not sure what has happened, but Cafe Zoot has certainly gone downhill. Booked for a table of 9 on a Monday evening, including 2 children. Waitress couldn’t understand our order.. what’s lager shandy and a spritzer? No children’s menu, or half portions for children available. We decided to pop in here today for some lunch. There were only 2 other tables in, so this should have rang alarm bells straight away. We walked in the door and just got looked at. We had to start the conversation, we Asked if a table was available for 2 adults and 1 child, and we just got a table pointed at us. We sat down and looked at the menus. Whilst we were sat we weren’t introduced to by waiting staff, we had to get their attention. I asked if there was a kids menu to which the reply we got was ‘no , what can I get you to drink’. To be honest it wasn't the most tasty breakfast I've ever had it was just meh. And at £15 for a full English and a coffee I expected considerably more.
Do you need time out? Do you need very friendly people caring for you and great food? This is the right place! I really enjoyed every visit!
