I read a few negative reviews after booking a table here for tonight. We were in the cafe, not Barton's (the tables between Bartons and the front bar). As we booked we were given a spacious booth for 4. it was noisy at 7:30 but by the time the mains came at 8:10 it was a plesant atmosphere. Bar staff friendly and efficient. As far as I understood according to the website menus, the 'cafe' actually has all the 'fancy' food served at Bartons (and same prices) but also has the pub grub on the menus, where as Bartons didn't (thus average meal price was cheaper in cafe as one could choose fish and chips, schnitzels ($18 for parmy) burgers and specials board (butter chicken $14)). The food was better than expected (based on recent reviews), curry full of flavour, schnitzel had those big crunchy crumbs and a nice herby tomato sauce, garlic bread was alright, 2 peices for $4. As it was a friday night pints of beer and cider were $5 for a big variety (until 9pm). For a nice meal on a friday night, at the very top of north Adelaide (so much easier parking), I reccomend it. I look forward to going back and trying out Bartons in the near future for a more sophisticated night out :)
