It seemed odd that they couldn't take a proper reservation; they only offer a priority seating list. I had a priority seating reservation for 11:30 on the day I visited. Upon arrival, the restaurant was completely empty, so finding a seat was not an issue at all. I was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of options on the menu, including salads, pastas, sandwiches, and main dishes, in addition to pizza. However, I was a bit let down to see only three options for thin-crust pizza, none of which appealed to me. Instead, I decided to order a small California Cobb salad, which turned out to be enormous and absolutely delicious.
When I saw the size of the sandwich, I felt a bit more justified in my splurge, but after taking a bite, I really knew I had made the right choice. Even though this place is primarily known for pizza, they absolutely nailed the chicken sandwich. The chicken was clearly high quality—juicy and tender, with just the right amount of crunch in the breading. The smashed potatoes (which were essentially fries) that accompanied it were crisp and full of flavor. I enjoyed every bite and continued to savor the taste all the way back to my car. My only regret is not trying their dessert. I highly recommend this place!
After finally securing a parking spot, we arrived at 4:30 and were told that they were expecting a party of 100 and only had about four tables for the “public”. Clearly, it was not a surprise to the restaurant manager that 100 people were coming in. I was very upset that they didn’t contact me via OpenTable to alert us that they were not likely to be able to seat us for a long time. We finally left as very unhappy and hungry and disappointed former customers. And I have been a customer of California Pizza Kitchen for years.
When I arrived, I was told that they did not take reservations and that the wait was twenty minutes. I showed them the confirmed reservation on my phone. They said that Open Table shouldn't have allowed me to book that. I insisted upon seeing the manager. He told me the same thing but then did make an effort to seat me as soon as possible. The restaurant is fine for casual dining but the issue with the reservation should never had occurred.

Calorie countson the menu, good vegetarian options, good mocktails, plus plenty for people who don't want any of that stuff. Right off the metro and cheap parking at the mall across the street (I think it's 5$ as of this writing). And it's right next to Costco too. Staff are generally nice as well. And it's a convenient meeting place for people coming f5om either DC or VA. And there's always seating.
I ordered the garlic pizza and spaghetti bolognese for takeout, but both dishes were lacking in flavor and very bland.
Regular CPK. Everything was fine, but the chain needs update everything. The format is dated.
