When my pregnant partner and I arrived, we were hoping to enjoy a nice meal after a long day of traveling. As we pulled into the nearly empty car park—where only one vehicle was visible—we were unsure if the pub was even open. Upon entering, we approached a rather rude and abrupt woman to ask if there was a table available for food. She curtly replied, “No available tables,” despite the fact that there were only two men sitting at the bar with drinks. After that, we were dismissed.
This was especially disheartening for my pregnant partner, who was feeling tired and hungry. As a result, we had to drive an additional 12 miles to find another pub that could accommodate us.
After a day of traveling, my partner, sister-in-law, her partner, and I decided to find a nice place for dinner. When we arrived, we noticed only one car in the parking lot, which made us doubtful about whether the restaurant was open. We requested a table for four but were told that there was no availability for us as it was reservations only. However, it was clear that the restaurant was mostly empty, with just two gentlemen at the bar enjoying drinks. It seemed that the lady behind the bar took a quick glance at us and, realizing we were from out of town, did not offer a warm welcome. I won’t be returning here and would not recommend it to anyone.
If it's character you are after then this is the place. It's a little isolated, but that wasn't a problem for my 1 night stay. Rooms are comfy and clean. The room tv is tiny, bit again not a problem. Called in o Saturday evening with the kids for a meal and was told booking only, I asked if I could book and was told no, if it had been busy I would understand, That’s 6 meals and serval drinks later they lost out on but I suppose £300 is nothing to a pub these days, Staff weren’t introduced
