The drive thru service coupled with the raw food I brought back to the hotel with me makes me wish I hadn't wasted my time. This was the absolute WORST experience I've had at one of these establishments and a possible game changer for me. To top it off, no one will answer the phone for me to even let them know they're serving undercooked food. I have no desire to have it replaced, but as a former manager of a restaurant- I'd want to know if my cooks and line staff didn't know what fully cooked food should look like.
I visited the restaurant on April 18th at around 8:45 PM, and there was no line. I ordered two fish and shrimp meals, along with two pieces of chicken. Unfortunately, I had to wait quite a while for my order. When I finally received my food, I was disappointed to find only one piece of fish and some burnt shrimp in both meals. I tried calling to report this issue, but no one answered. I want to make sure this incident is documented, as I intend to return and request a replacement for my $30 worth of food.
I felt uneasy when I opened the box and saw all the crumbs. I visited Captain D's in Pelham on June 15, 2022, later in the evening. I'm not sure who decided it was acceptable to serve food like this. I could barely see the fish, as it was completely covered by a mountain of crumbs. The photo was taken after I managed to dig the fillets out from all the crumbs. It also appears that the fillets are getting smaller and smaller. I remember a time when the fish portions were of a decent size.
I absolutely do not want to return to this restaurant. The pre-packaged sauce was at room temperature, and the food was cold and hard. The hush puppies and fish appeared to be fried in old oil, which was noticeable in the taste. This was, without a doubt, the worst meal my wife and I have had since moving to Alabama. Take my experience as a warning: the food is terrible. Honestly, we would have been better off going to McDonald's, and I am not a fan of McDonald's at all.

Worst meal I ever received. Smallest portions imaginable. I ordered two three-piece dinners each one had about nine uncooked fries and each one had one small ice cream scoop of mac cheese. I had to cook the fries in an air fryer what you see in the pictures was for two orders. Keep in mind that each meal is $8.69 plus tax. I highly recommend you pick a different restaurant!
I ordered fish with a side of okra. The okra was cold and old. Not sure how that happened when that's a special item. Very odd. The two ounce tartar sauce contain they gave was half full and not enough for one whole piece of fish. This fish broken into pieces when I got it. Which was okay. I gave a score of three because I wasn't in line long and the fish was hot.
Last Saturday, I had a fantastic experience at the restaurant. The food was served hot and fresh. The server, A.M., was friendly and provided excellent service. When I decided to add Jalapeño poppers to my order at the window, she handled it without any hassle or attitude. I felt compelled to call the company and commend her as soon as I left.
I had a delightful experience during my visit. I'm thrilled that the dining area is open. The staff, especially Shanice, was incredibly friendly and upbeat, which really enhanced my experience. I have no complaints about the food; the fish, shrimp, fries, and hush puppies were all fried to perfection.

Big Captain D's! We have at this point on Friday 17th. June (about 5 a.m.) and the food and service were great! The checkout had a smile on her face, the lobby and the bathrooms were clean, our orders were made right, and the food (fish, Okra and Pommes) was hot and fresh. We'll be back soon.
It was hard to find a clean table to sit at because the staff were lounging on the counters. The food was undercooked, and I recommend being careful with the fountain drink machine.
