Captain George's Fish and Chips

My daughter wanted to go out for seafood and we decided to go here instead of our usual spot. I'm glad we did! The place was packed (which is a good sign honestly), but we were still seated quickly. The decor is kind of old style diner, with a mix of booths and tables. We both ordered the fish and chips (with her getting the kid menu version), and our orders came up very quick. I expect with how busy it was for both eat in and pick up that they had the most popular options already cooking before the orders even came in.I really can't say enough about the meal. Maybe my expectations were too high, after all, the best place to get fish and chips is at a place that specializes in such, right? Sadly, it wasn't the case this time, I've had lots of good fish and chips to compare it to, but this wasn't one of them. Maybe I went there the the day before they changed their oil, because that's what it tasted like, old oil. The malted vinegar was diluted and you could barely taste it. The staff was nice, which is why I gave two starts. I might give it another shot, and if things are different, will change my review. But as it stands right now, I would not recommend this place.

We have been told by a lot of our friends how nice this place is. We checked it out, were very pleased in how the place was clean, staff was very helpful in helping you choose you meal. They were very friendly , service was quick. The big thing we really noticed when walking in was there was no heavy smell of cooking oil. Salads were fresh, dressings were a good choice. Food was very tasty, looking fresh, tasting yummy. We left there feeling we got our monies worth in a tasty fish and chips, with salad. A meal worth going and trying for the fish lovers.

As Brits, we know our fish and chips and we can honestly say that the fish and chips served at Captain George's are superb! The staff are attentive and helpful and genuinely want to please. This, coupled with halibut, scallops and prawns that are to die for, made it a memorable meal - so much so that we went back again!

Fish Lover is the best place for fish that I have had in a while. The waitstaff were very friendly, the prices were reasonable, and the service was quick despite it being very busy. I will definitely be a regular customer. Thank you, Captain, for the delicious meal!

We visit Captain George's occasionally, only because our diet is supposed to be free of fried food but when we want a treat of fish and chips, go to the Captain. Delicious. We are al out ready for another great! Good work, Captain George.

The fish was good but the chips were all sandy. Tried this four times and all the time the chips had dirt in them. Will never go again to Belleville Captain George.

Huge servings, good specials, take out and eat in with great student specials. Happy courteous serve staff and lots of parking. Haddock cod chicken and burgers.

This restaurant is always busy. I recommend arriving early. I visited about two months after it opened and every time I pass by, it is consistently packed.

Always get the halibut and chips. Fish done to perfection (2 pieces) French fries are always so good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
